It's not really wrong, no, but it does reveal that your worldview is very simple and undeveloped. Each person living below the poverty line has a unique situation - you cannot simply brush them all aside by saying they should have gone to school. Many of these people come from very unfortunate backgrounds. Many have mental problems that can only be treated with medication or therapy that they cannot afford. Others have addiction problems, which again can only be treated if they can afford it.It isn't unusual to have no pity for people you perceive to have "dug their own holes", and no one is forcing you to help them (well, you pay taxes so that's not entirely true) but you shouldn't judge them with such a broad stroke. Th chances are very good that if you had been raised in their situation, you would be exactly like them.
