What are the pros and cons of an Army ROTC college scholarship?

We Answered:

With the National Guard you most likely will not go over seas but you will be more active over here. In the Reserves you will likely go verseas but when you are here you only have to show up one weekend a month. I recommend the National Guard. My uncle just retired from there.

Micheal Said:

Can I major in Environmental Engineering if I am doing a NROTC college scholarship program?

We Answered:

You typically start out in general engineering, then move on to different concentrations of engineering after learning the basics. There's no such major as "engineering" - it's as broad as saying you're majoring in "science". Anything that has "engineering" affixed to it, possibly more, counts as engineering.

Any free college scholarship programs?

We Answered:

Hello there,
Yes there is such thing as free scholarship money to help you pay for your college education. You don't keep the scholarship money though. What usually happens, when you do win the scholarship money, it is sent to you or your community college Financial Aid office. Most often it is sent to your college you are attending. The scholarship money is then used to help you pay off your college tuition, textbook expenses, food, dorm, etc. If you won't dorm, then it is less for you to pay because you aren't dorming and you don't have to pay since you are not residing. If you are thinking of going on a video gaming shopping spree or go on a vacation with your scholarship money, >.< you can't. The scholarship is ONLY to be used for college expenses. As I said before scholarship money are FREE, you do not have to repay the money, but if you are planning to loan (called student loan) this is what you have to pay.

You can get a job if you want to, this will definitely help you pay for your food and textbooks because they cost hella lot. Usually you can do work-study at your college where you can work at the admissions office, library, cafeteria, etc. Check with your community college website you are planning or thinking of attending they may have some more information on work-study.

In order to get the scholarship money, you have to apply to them. This is where your grades and extracurricular activities comes into play. The more activities you are in, the higher the chances are in winning, but you have to be involved and dedicated to show you care and have passion in what you are doing.

Good luck!
