College Scholarships And Grants

Jeffery Said:

Where can i apply for actuall college grants and scholarships?

We Answered:

I've got what you need right here - this is a great scholarships search resource offered directly by the US Department of Education. Take a look, and you'll see that they offer several types of search capabilities, and, they warn you, right there, about how to avoid the very scams that you've been stumbling into.

Also check the second link - that's a government-vetted and approved site that provides information on a state-by-state basis about special funds available to the residents of each of the 50 states.

I hope that helps!

Jorge Said:

Too early to apply for college scholarships or grants?

We Answered:

It's not too early for you to start doing your research.

Here is what I recommend:

1. Be sure to talk (via telephone - voice-to-voice, or in person) with a counselor at the college/university Financial Aid Office of the schools that interest you about all your financial aid options. The colleges/universities may have financial aid funds specifically for its own students. Private/independent colleges tend to have more of this kind of $$$ than public/state supported colleges/universities.

2. For electronic tools to help you plan your college costs and to find scholarships and grants, the very best and most reliable is through College Board (who publish the College Blue Book and administer the SAT.) They do not sell you email address to other sites which will send you a lot of spam.

Go to: http://www.collegeboard.org (corrected address)
Click on the For Students link
On the next page, click on the Pay for College link (green tab)
On the Pay for College pay are links to a number of useful electronic tools:
Financial aid planning
Scholarship Search
Etc.
You will need to register, but they are excellent electronic tools

3. When you do find scholarships/grants for which you may be eligible, be sure to follow the application rules to the letter.

Jimmy Said:

Is it true that all your college grants, scholarships, loans are withdrawn if you don't make a C average?

We Answered:

It depends on the grants etc. The money is granted on certain conditions, and good averages is usually one of these. If you don't know about a certain grant, you can always look up the specifics and find out what the conditions for maintaining the aid are.

Joanne Said:

Are there only college grants/scholarships available for married couples that do not earn high salaries.?

We Answered:

see if your school accepts the Pell Grant

Benjamin Said:

What college grants or scholarships are available for disabled students?

We Answered:

If you go to your library and check out a few of the big scholarship listing books, you will find sections of scholarship lists for students organized by intended major, race/ethnicity, students with medical issues/disabilities, etc...

Good luck! :)
