Dance Scholarships For College

Pauline Said:

Does anyone know of programs/scholarships to pay for a college grad's ballroom/latin dance lessons?

We Answered:

Try going through this site. Select your state, and then contact the local dancesport chapter. Hopefully they'll be able to help.

Failing that, I would contact any local ballroom dance societies or private instructors to see what guidance they can provide.

Good luck!

I want a dance scholarship in college......?

We Answered:

I am not sure, but try doing a search on your computer. There are scholarships all over that go unused each year. We also have a big old book in our library that lists all scholarships available, but it takes hours of looking. Good luck!

Louise Said:

I am a 20 year old college student looking for scholarships available to me through dance or choreography?

We Answered:

There isn't much out there. Dance scholarships are given by merit after an audition at most schools. You may have to go that route or look for a scholarship via some other means. The scholarships for dance that I know of are awarded at ballet schools and top performing arts high schools, or competitions like YAGP. These are really for performance focus students with a chance of a professional dance career, not for someone opening a dance studio.
My guess you will have to look for another criteria for a scholarship other than dance.

Can you get a college scholarship for being on the auxillary dance team?

We Answered:

some do, but you need to send a highlight video with your application, and talk to the director about getting on.

Trying to decide what college to go to?

We Answered:

i don't know about the schools, but a quick note - if you want to get a dance scholarship, you're going to have to be a dance major. they don't normally give dance scholarships to, say, culinary majors. that would leave them with a lot of angry dance majors and would make no sense. they give out scholarships in a particular area because they think people are going to go far in those areas. they wouldn't give you a scholarship for something you're not even pursuing.
