Engineering Scholarships For High School Seniors

Chris Said:

Question about Scholarships?

We Answered:

I'm pretty sure you can't do that. Those scholarships are earmarked for the specific majors for a reason. If you are undecided they won't give it to you because you may decide to major in something else. Say if you have an engineering scholarship and when you finally declare a major you choose marketing?

What would be a good science fair project in Engineering?

We Answered:

design and build a scanning electron microscope. (if you can to that in two or three months that you have left, then you will probably get a scholarship!) I saw a project like that at a science fair a few years ago and the student won a grand prize. He did it in his garage and his parents had no idea what he was doing.

the bad news is if you only have a few months and it is extremely unlikely you will be able to generate an award winning project from scratch in the time reamaining. Your best chances will be if you have already done some preparatory work on some topic last year and what you do this year is to fix all the flaws from the earlier project or extend it based on some really good science or engineering.

there are many web sites that will come up if you use Google about science fair projects, however the best projects are usually never found on those web sites. the best projects are so creative and unusual that few ever considered doing something like the student did to win a grand prize. see if you can find a list of project winners to get some idea of what the titles were for winning projects, so you can see the kind of things that impressed the judges. (Of course a project is much more than the title, but you have to start somewhere.).

What are good colleges to go to if wanting to major in Engineering?

We Answered:

You need to know what schools you are going to have a chance of getting into. what is your cumulative GPA, ACT/SAT score? Yes MIT, Cal Tech, are great schools for engineering, but very difficult to get accept into.
Cal poly seems easier to get into. check out site below. there are many different kinds of engineering fields to go into

Carole Said:

what's the best mid-atlantic engineering college?

We Answered:

Lehigh is a superb engineering school, but must be wickedly expensive. I'm guessing it's not south of you, either.

Have you thought about Virginia Tech? Another fine engineering school, with the geographic location you desire.

The military academies all have good engineering departments, but you have to love the military lifestyle to do well there.

Gloria Said:

Can I apply for a scholarship to college freshman when I have been admitted but am still finishing high school?

We Answered:

No, because they will want your records and GPA as an undergraduate college student which you have not established yet. After your first semester of college you could apply.

After clicking around I found this on the eligibility part:
*Undergraduate applicants must be currently enrolled in a regionally accredited U.S. college or university and have a high school diploma/GED. Current high school students are not eligible to apply.

Andre Said:

How and where can I help my high school senior look for scholarships?

We Answered:

Hello how are you? What I suggest that you do is use a scholarship search. A scholarship search allows you to create a profile and receive information for all the scholarships that you are eligible to apply for based on your profile description, for example: a scholarship for a student who is pursuing a degree in engineering. Scholarshipsupport.com actually has 2 free scholarship searches available right now. Also you may be able to find a grant on their site as well. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
