No. Also, Affirmative Action actually helps more women than it does minorities...and blacks are not the only minorities that benefit from it.

As far as AA for blacks - racism still exists. Just because it isn't legal, doesn't mean people aren't prejudiced and if anything, the election of President Obama brought more racists out of the woodwork. Most of the people in power, are older white men raised in the Jim Crow era. Many of them were raised to feel blacks are inferior and still feel that way. Without quotas, they would just promote and hire people who looked like them; they could come up with a million reasons for passing the minority or female candidate over for the white male too.

Affirmative Action and quotas can help whites too. At Historically Black Colleges and Universities, many white students get full minority scholarships because whites are the minority there. If you work in a majority black workplace, AA could also help a white person.
