Does my stuff seem good enough to get into UVA?We Answered:
your resume is really important, but so are your SAT scores. Your only a junior, so this will obviously change. I think since it is legit now, you should focus on studying for SATs. take practice tests, study study study, and don't worry so much:). I think you will be just fine!Everett Said:
What colleges and majors would be best for me?We Answered:
I live in NC and we have a similar school called North Carolina School of Science and Math. All the people I know who want to go there like the idea of going to UNC Chapel Hill. I personally don't plan on going to the boarding school but I DO want to go to UNC Chapel Hill.Chapel Hill has scholarships. And they have a great Mass Communications program and cool student-run radio station. It is hard to get in out of state but you seem to like the idea of living in the Carolinas and UNCCH is the best NC college in my opinion (and trust me I've paid attention to this a lot and I've seen the campus). It is more expensive out of state but way less expensive than Duke.
To sum it up, Mass Communications and/or Journalism is your best bet if you want to seriously pursue music journalism. But you have a lot of time in high school to decide where you want to go and what you want to major in. Take a psych class in high school.
Oh, and don't go to college outside the country because it won't help you get jobs unless you are studying language or culture, study abroad instead. Also, music journalists need to get into the "scene" and you can't do that overseas unless you want to be a journalist overseas.

I'm applying to some competitive colleges, but I do I have shot, scared b/c of low SAT scores, here is resume? We Answered:
You're quite an impressive kiddo!Ivies would be a huge reach, as well as the top private colleges, unless you have a great backstory, like you were homeless during high school. Or you're a top athlete, like region/statewide top. That's always a good way to get into the Ivies. (My dh participates in the admissions process for his Ivy alma mater, so I'm aware of the caliber of applicants they see and admit.)
UCs, yes, especially you're in the top 4% of your public school. Private school, yes, if it has a somewhat rigorous curriculum. UCLA is a crapshoot, however, if you're a minority (but not Asian) you have a better chance than other kids with the same stats. They need more diversity on the campus and they're working on it. Berkeley's average admit SAT scores are 2033, lots of top students, high AP scores, being a minority (except Asian) would help.
Chapman and Pepperdine, good shot.
The internship is good, but unfortunately, you will be in competition with kids with similar experiences.
BUT, I've seen that one never knows what will happen! Keep up the great work! Be sure to work on your personal statement and get help if you feel you need it. http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/…

Good start for college? Any advice for a high school sophomore? We Answered:
you seem extremely qualified. the only thing you seem to be missing is a sport, but you definitely have other extracurriculars to make up for it. you still have to take the SATs or ACTs, which is a huge part of acceptance. all in all, you're on the right track to getting in. good luck!Nora Said:
Does my high school stuff seem good enough to get into UVA?We Answered:
That's a lot of activities! The average GPA at UVA is a 4.0, but with good test scores, you've definitely got a chance at getting in.Deborah Said:
I am 16 yrs old and i am looking for a job in CT.?We Answered:
http://www.collegeboard.com/splash/ is a great website to use for finding scholarships, and for seeing how you stack up compared to the colleges and universities you're looking into. Call me crazy, but I come to college board all the time when I hear about a good undergrad program that will help me prepare for med school, and its a really easy and useful site. Good luck with your poetry!
