Private College Scholarships

Jesse Said:

Can you get scholarships to go to a Private College?

We Answered:

Of course. Scholarships are no different from public to private. If someone offers to give you money towards education, no institution would turn that down. Check on the school for school-specific scholarships however unless a scholarship is for a particular school/school system, it is not going to make a difference if its a state school or not.

Terry Said:

If my child attends a private high school is it less likely that she will be awarded college scholarships?

We Answered:

No, that is not true. I went to a private high school, and I have received plenty of scholarships. Many scholarships will ask the student how much income their parents make, but other scholarships do not take that into consideration. The scholarships might base who they give the award to by financial need, but they won't look at what school they attended. They will look at how much money the parents make. Other times, scholarships are given only on the basis of what the student has achieved throughout school.

Virginia Said:

Can College Scholarships Pay For Private Middle School? Please Give Me A Site To Get Scholarships Mailed To Me

We Answered:

No. College scholarships are for students attending college. Some private schools do offer scholarships on their own though. You'd have to check with the financial office of the school you want to go to. You won't find any national scholarships for private middle schools.

Also, when you are ready to apply for college scholarships.... they won't just mail you a scholarship. You have to first meet the scholarship's requirement, then you have to apply for it, then you have to wait for them to evaluate your application. Even if you get it, the scholarship doesn't go directly to you. It goes to the school you're attending, in your name and is applied to your tuition.
