Scholarships And Grants For Women

Claudia Said:

Are there any scholarships or grants for women over 30 who want to earn a degree in NJ?

We Answered:

There's the Pell Grant (Federal), and then there are local grants, and even grants from private individuals. For most grants, you must be below a certain income - though if your expenses are very high in contrast to your income - you might be able to get one.

Joann Said:

Is there any grants are scholarships for women who want to go back to school?

We Answered:

Depending on the school you apply to and your age and if you have children (dependents) or not and what your income is, there may be.

A good idea? Look at all-women's colleges. They offer more to women going back to school, are all about leadership, job, and education opportunities, and just plain rock!

Where do you live? Are you into the idea of community college or a regular college?

Ramon Said:

Where can I find information about scholarships and grants for women over age 40?

We Answered:

Some other areas are to check locally with professional women's groups, community foundations and also check your library or university library. There is a big blue book that lists scholarships, grants and fellowships that is put out every year. Your librarian will know what I am talking about. Also look for areas such as essay contest and such that provide money too. There are typically two times,at the university level for undergraduate money to be given, when you enter as a freshman and also at your junior year (normally when you are in more of your major classes. Talk with the Dean's office on scholarships to apply for that are only offered to students of that college. Financial Aid should also have a list of these. March 1st is usually the time next years applications are due. I am speaking from personal experience since I have worked for three universities.
