Scholarships For African Women
Randall Said:
What's with the racist and sexist scholarships? We Answered:
See, the deal is that the people who fund those scholarships can give them to whoever they want to. It's their money and they often specify some favorite group to give to.White males (WASPs) will "get some love" when other white males start to fund scholarships and restrict them in the same way. But reality is that most restricted funded scholarships don't come from fellow WASPS but instead from special interest groups or individuals with an interest in a particular group - if you want to fund a scholarship for 6'6" New Jersey left-handed tennis players with one eye - you're free to do so. Just as some groups are free to fund for African-Americans or women.
When we WASPs send money to a college we very often mark it for some athletic need like a new field house. But, for the most part, we just send the money and let the college decide. So, if you think there should be a White Anglo Saxon Protestant Males Majoring in Biology with a 3.75+ GPA Who Also Play Football Scholarship at your school, fund it and there will be. ?
I think you'll find that, if you look deeply, there are more scholarships out there for we WASPS than for any other group on earth. It's just that some of those also fund the other groups as well.
More women in college? Yes there are. But scholarship funders don't make decisions based on which group is underrepresented - they fund whoever they want to. If you think there need to be more for men, fund them.
But it's not "racist" or "sexist" -- it's self-serving. We men have just been taught for a generation that it's bad to be self-serving if you're a man. We're made to feel guilty if we think we should get ahead - and so, let's see where that idea leads the next generation.

Funds for College for African American Women - Serious answers only!?We Answered:
The best place to start with is the FAFSA form because it will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. Second, some colleges do list private scholarships from companies and outside organizations on its financial aid website. Finally, do a scholarship search on a free membership scholarship search website.Carmen Said:
Attending a Jr College ?We Answered:
Income is determined from your tax returned, so from last year. There are not going to be any scholarships for this year, they open around October and close in February or March for the following year, they have long closed for thus year. Because your parents are unemployed you can try to fill out a special circumstances form, unless they are getting income from somewhere else. Unfortunately you have waited quite a long time, so they might not be able to do anything for you before school starts. I advise you to stop by the financial aid office and ask what your other options are.Wesley Said:
