Early Graduation from High School? We Answered:
It depends on your school district, but usually they won't let you graduate early. Most will allow you to take post-secondary classes at a nearby university while in high school, and those classes almost always transfer when you go to college "for real"Charlotte Said:
Early high school graduation?We Answered:
?? bratiskim?!'s answer is good. I don't think your guidance counselor is going to lie to you about *your* school's graduation requirements. Your state and school district sets its graduation requirements. They are available in clearly written form through your school district offices. I'm certain your counselor will know what they are at the school you are attending. If you meet the requirements they set out, you can graduate. However, I would not rely on her for information about the graduation requirements for the online school. Unless the online school you are attending is a public school, their curriculum may not meet the requirements for public school transfer credits. The public school *can* decide if the classes you took are equivalent, and therefore if you can graduate. If the school doesn't accept the online school's courses, you'll have to finish next year if you want to graduate from your high school. The online high school you are attending might accept your credits and allow you to graduate. Some have less stringent graduation requirements than public schools. Now, as for the part of the question about admission to Ohio State, it's always best to contact the university directly. They are the best source of information about their admissions requirements. It does sound as if you need to bring up your ACT score in order to gain admission. Although it isn't what you want to do, finishing next year will give you the best chance to do that. You will have time to study and take practice tests. You can always apply this year and reapply next year if you are not accepted.
I don't have much to add to ?? bratiskim?'s answer about scholarships. Many employers offer scholarships. My credit union and the trade union my husband belongs to both offer scholarships, although they are not usually enough to cover 100% of tuition, books, room and board. Almost all students have to supplement them by taking loans, getting help from their families or working part time. Do be sure and meet all application deadlines. Universities don't make exceptions for their deadlines.
As a side note, while I think working on your writing skills will be important, pointing it out in the context of answering your question isn't polite. *All* of us, including that answer, could use some work on our writing skills.

Early Graduation 2010????We Answered:
Stay in School another year.... in Ohio you will be able to take some college course in your last two years... don't know why you didn't take any thing year.... I do mean actual college course from a community and those credits should transfer. That will make less course you need when you hit college....Study again for your act and hopefully you will score much higher next time around. IF you wait until September of 2011 to attend college.... you will already have college credits under your belt.... then maybe even a scholarship or two..... it could be will worth the wait... Plus you could even take college course in the summer of 2011... hopefully and on track to graduate in 3 years instead of 4.Douglas Said:
Early Graduation from high school? We Answered:
If you have a year of high school that you can do, then stick around and work on your SAT/ACT. There's no reason to hurry up your graduation unless you seriously cannot wait by no means to leave home and get on to college. I've known a few people who have hurried-up their graduation, and know someone who is currently doing that, and most of the people I've met who graduated early say they wish they just stayed in high school a year longer. Unless there's a very good reason to leave early, then take the extra year of high school. It's only going to put you in better standing for Ohio State when you would apply as a freshman next winter.Transferring is not a bad route. It's what I am trying to do with some universities I would prefer to get a degree from. I'm a freshman so transferring is pretty straight forward and there's a number of good schools one can transfer into that they would not have been able to get into straight after high school. It also gives you a better idea of what college is like and what to look for in schools to transfer to. You learn to look for the aspects of college that high school applicants often do not even think twice about--such as free WiFi throughout campus!
Regardless of whether you stick around in high school for another year or just go on to Columbus next Fall, you'll be fine. There's not really a wrong route to take between the two, it's just a matter of following what YOU would rather do.
