Military scholarships for spouses?

We Answered:

Well I can give you a few things:

-Usually what ever state you are in and your husband is stationed there also, you will be able to qualify for instate tuition. Which can save you thousands of dollars right there.

-Check with the base spouses clubs. Both clubs (or the combined one) offer military spouse scholarships. Most of the time, you might have to write an essay and go agaisnt other spouses but it is worth it if you win.

-Check this site out. AER offers scholarships now to stateside spouses instead of just overseas spouses. You don't need to repay back and you don't go agaisnt another spouse. http://www.aerhq.org/education.asp

-Make sure and fill out the FAFSA for Pell Grants. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

-Go to the Education Center and see about taking CLEP exams. You won't get them for free but the test are cheaper than taking a regular class at a college. Most colleges take the credit but check with your college just to be sure.

Good luck with your education. I am almost done with mine and sometimes it seems hard but it will be worth it.

Grants and Scholarships For Military Spouses?

We Answered:

The only thing the Military is going to help you out on with this specific situation is In State Tuition. Grants and Scholarships have nothing to do with the military. You just apply and hope for the best. Scholarships of course you have to earn or win. So good luck on that one. But im sure you will get some kind of grant or student loan. If the load is to hard to bear.

Brittany Said:

Why are the only scholarships available for military spouses for ones of deceased/disabled spouses?

We Answered:

Of course there are: please list your hubbies branch of service.
However they are hard to locate (duh, as I am leaning). Also if he is such as Army Aviation or whatever check with the top NCO in his unit as many groups have ties to specific veterans associations.

Talk to the Post/Base "Spouses Associations" "Enlisted Wives Club" as we once called them.

Above all: check closely for each college you are looking at's schloarships: if they are even close and allow a "bio" and personal note, well someone may be considerate as to your needs.

Many sources of financial assistance are available to enable you to continue your education. Visit your installation's ACS/FSC office and the financial aid office at the school you wish to attend for information on programs that may be available to you. Most military spouses are eligible for a Pell Grant and other need-based financial aid.

For information on other sources of financial assistance, register with FastWeb, a free service that notifies you of specific funding opportunities that you may be eligible for, based on your unique situation.

As to that pudnucker who posted the rude remarks: try being a military spouse. We are at war my little catfish.
