Scholarships For Women In Science

Wade Said:

Why should individuals treat women as equals when...?

We Answered:

They shouldn't...Automatically...Be treated as equals...

The problem is that most women (and men,) fail to live up to their potential.

In the case of women, they have whined and complained until the judicial system cracked like a browbeaten house husband and legislated "equality" laws to counterbalance the perceived "prejudice" of society against women...

But we shouldn't allow that, "discrimination laws" hurt everybody, from businesses and the "discriminated," to the legislative system itself. I won't rant about it here, but I'll put a couple of "off main topic" links to other answers I think show how I feel about our so called "misogynistic" society.

Forget treating women as "equals," forget treating ANYONE as "equals."
When I meet someone, I treat them as a "human," and give them a basic level of respect based solely on the assumption that they have basic cognitive abilities and some kind of interpersonal ethic. Then I will give or take as much respect as they prove themselves worthy of by their actions...

We should not take the constitution's line of "all men are created equal," to mean males in particular, or that people continue to be equals after the trials of life...It only means that we all start with the same basic rights and potential...What we do with that should be the ONLY determining factor of how we are treated by others...

That, and how charming we are!

Should I teach history or math & science?

We Answered:

Hi Arizona:

The truth is this...it is going to be difficult to find a job teaching history. There are a lot of history teachers out there. It really is too bad, though, because you would probably be good at it based upon what you have written and expressed.

You are going to have a better chance finding a teaching job if you chose math or science. However, if this is not where your heart lies, then maybe it is not worth it. Don't settle. If you do happen to like math and/or science, but love history, you could consider majoring in one (history) and minoring in the other. This will allow you to teach math or science while you find a teaching job for history. Also, it will get your foot in the door and you may find it is easier to get a teaching job for history once one comes open. If you only mildly like math or science, you may find that teaching it just doesn't capture your imagination and then that interest won't flow to the students.

Ultimately, it is up to you. Think about what you really want. There is no need starting over and doing math or science and finding you don't like it. Check around your area and see if there are any history teachers that will be retiring in the next few years. If so, see if you can be a teacher's assistant. That will help too.

Hope this helps, and I wish you good luck. B:)

Is there any way to get rid of your college degree, as if you never completed it?

We Answered:

I don't think it's possible, sorry. Be glad you got the government assistance the first time around. Our family doesn't qualify and my parents have to send 3 kids through college on their own.
