Scholarships For Working Mothers

John Said:

Good sites to apply for scholarships and grants for mothers?

We Answered:

Try applying for FAFSA, (www. fafsa.com) depending on your income, you can either get a grant/grants or u may be able to get a loan (i don't think u like that). But anyway, I'm 23 year old, a mother of a 4yr old and I just went back to school. I was able to get grants enough to cover the school cost and the books so yeah, basically, I'm back in school and I only had to pay a little. If you are not making a lot of money, you should be able to get something.

Connie Said:

What kind of financial aid is available to a working mother that has a BA already????

We Answered:

Because most of these grants and financial aid are geared toward helping the first time student get through school- you are expected to make the most of what education you received and build from there.

In your situation, student loans may be one of the only options available to you.

Good Luck.

Annie Said:

where can i find grants or scholarships for middle aged adult?

We Answered:

Fill out your FAFSA online and it will give you a clearer picture of what money you can expect from loans. After you have been notified that your fafsa has been sent to your school of chioce make an appointment in the financial aid office for assistance, the advisor should be able to give you advice on the scholarships and grants that you can apply for. Much of this will depend on what major you are looking into and your income.

Many of the degrees that you get online are really expensive and employers look at them in a different way than they look at real colleges.

If you are working you may want ot check and see if your work will pay for any of the expenses.

I am looking for free/low cost scholarships for working mothers?

We Answered:

First, the most important thing to do is file your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You may qualify for federal and state grants. It is free to file your FAFSA.

Check with the financial aid office at the school or schools you want to attend. Most will maintain a scholarship section on their website that can direct you to available scholarships.

www.fastweb.com is a good online scholarship search engine.

Keep in mind, you should NEVER have to pay to apply for a scholarship, if they ask you to pay it is most likely a scam.

Also I would recommend you check with your local employment (unemployment) office. They often have programs such as WIA, the workforce investment act.

Good luck with your scholarship search and with college. Your financial aid office will always be your best resource, go in and meet them and get to know them!
