Check an online scholarship / grant index - basically these sites give you a big long list of scholarships, and usually a piece of software to help you submit applications to all of them. I know there are some AVID ones from the dept of ed, but you'll have to find them... Google/yahoo search it, but be careful, most of them are scams.

They will show you tons of scholarships and some do not require financial need. additionally, be sure to complete a FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ the beginning of every year. You may be surprised what you qualify for in the way of aid. If anything, you may be able to get a stafford loan through the govt, you will not have to pay this back until after graduation.
