Single Mom Scholarships

Im a single mom looking for grants and scholarships? We Answered:
Talk to the school you are planning to attend- they can let you know about scholarships they offer. They can also let you know what kind of scholarships your state's higher education governing body might sponsor. For federal aid you'll need to fill out an application at www.fafsa.ed.gov/ This application is essential for getting funding for school.
I'm not sure what your race is, but http://www.uncf.org/ has a lot of scholarships for black students. http://www.hsf.net/ offers scholarships for Hispanic students.
Just off the top of my head I know Talbot offers a scholarship for just women:

Jeanette Rankin is a good one that I've heard of:
http://www.rankinfoundation.org/
Scholarships.com and Fastweb are also good search engines for scholarships.
This is also a good link for tips for single mothers on how to find scholarships and how to avoid scholarship scams:

Good luck searching and good luck with school.

low income single mom scholarships? We Answered:
I have looked for four years for scholarships for single mothers and have only come across one, and it was for single mothers over the age of forty going back to school (which didn't apply to me). I have looked in books at the library, contacted various organizations, and searched the web -- just to let you know that I haven't just looked in a few places. Does your state have any scholarships that you might be eligible for? Some states have wonderful grants and scholarships and others have nearly nothing... check your state's website and click on the link for grants/scholarships (sometimes it's hard to find). Make sure that you ask your school to let you know if any scholarships become available. Most technical schools have scholarships for "adult" learners (and these are hard to come by as many scholarships are aimed at typical students - straight out of high school). Good luck to you.John Said:
Any good Nursing Scholarships? Or Single mom?We Answered:
If you're considering nursing you should scour all possible membership opportunities in professional organizations that support nursing. Google search for this. For example, www.nursingworld.org is the American Nurses Association. Find out what it takes to become a member (most have reduced or free memberships for students) and then scour all these websites for scholarships. A great website to look up any/all organizations and associations is www.scholarly-societies.org.You mentioned that you receive too much "junk" when you search for scholarships. I would argue that this is because your search criteria is not specific enough. Eventually, if you get to the nitty gritty of what you're looking for, there should be good results, and you should NEVER have to pay anyone any money!
For example, consider using a boolean search such as:
"nursing and scholarship and application and deadline and 2009 and IN and mother and .doc and .pdf."

single mom wants to get an scholarship to College? We Answered:
You need to fill out the FAFSA. There are no special "Obama grants" for single moms or anything like that. Those are a scam.http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
