Track And Field Scholarships

Marlene Said:

is there any chance of me getting a track and field scholarship?

We Answered:

i would say there is a very strong possibility that you could get one by senior year if you keep improving. If you can make it to state that would also increase your chances of getting a scholarship.

How do you get a track and field scholarship?

We Answered:

First - you have to remember that track is a non-revenue generating sport. SO you need to post absolute GREAT times.

And - you also need the grades. Coaches in track don't get too many spots to use, so they don't want to fill a spot with someone that might not stay on the team academically. So - hit the books, AND - good grades along with good times show you can balance between sports and school and also shows time management and a level of maturity.

Also - be aggressive - you have to create a dialoge with a coach or recruiter. get help from your guidance counselor and also from your coach.

I can't tell if your a great running girl or an average boy, your question/statement didn't say. BUT - you have to win a few races, create a resume and get it out there. get your parents involved too as they need to help contact coaches. The internet is a great way to contact them.

And - be in touch with the school, find out about their academics program. Do your research about the history of the schools running program too, learn what the they do, where they compete. What are their strengths and weaknesses, and how will you help their squad.

Remember, even if your the best runner in your school - almost all the runners on a college team were the best runners in their high school - so you have to create the tie breakers yourself - contact them, in writing so they have something to look at and read. Spelling counts as you have ONE chance to make a first impression.

What does it take to get a Division II track and field scholarship?

We Answered:

Have you tried being in contact with the coaches of the schools you are interested in? They have a limited budget for athletic scholarships given to them by the school itself. In addition, you should register for the NCAA database right now. I will include the NCAA website and some other places you would be interested in.

Cross Country and Track and Field Scholarship?

We Answered:

Those are good times, and I am sure several college coaches are aware of your performances.
You should progress as you learn and develop.
Your coach also knows several college coaches, and they will talk to each other, especially at meets.
There are lots of things involved in getting a scholarship so it is not possible to say where you could go, or if you will have many choices.
Just relax, get good grades and enjoy running.
