PLZ HELP!!!!! FINANCING QUESTIONS!!?

We Answered:

no point in getting too worked up about it.lol. bank of america is a great bank and is college student friendly. when you get financial aid like the PELL grant they will go to you, not your parents. when you do get loans to help out with bills while in college, just get what oyu really need. you will be suprised how little it take to live while in college, without having to sacrafice too much. to be approved for a car loan you much have worked somewhere for about 3 months or longer. my suggestion is to get a cheap car so you don't have to worry about making a 300+ a month car payment while you are trying to get passing grades in school. wait until you graduate and get what you really want. the financhal aid department will help guide you, i'd start soon, don';t wait 2 months before you start college to start getting all this in order. p.s. apply for every type of grant you can in school, you'll be supprised what all you can get !

Can you be denied an unsubsidized Stafford loan?

We Answered:

No, you cannot be denied an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan as long as you meet the eligibility requirements set forth when completing the FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/faq003.htm) and as long as you are not in default on a previous loan (which I assume you are not since you said your undergrad schooling was paid for via scholarships).

As a graduate student you are eligible to receive up to $20500 a year for a Stafford Loan. If you find that you need more, you may also be eligible for a GradPLUS loan (a new program started in the 0607 school year).

I know you said you have a decent job right now...would you be able to reduce your cost by also applying as a Graduate Research or Teaching Assistant? I don't know enough about those to know if it would interfere with any regular job you may hold.

In addition, contact your Graduate Office and/or Financial Aid Office to see what other scholarships they may have for grad students. Sometimes even though a financial aid office may not have grad scholarships available, specific departments on your campus may have so your Graduate Office should know about those.

Good luck!
