Asvab Study Guide

Melinda Said:

Is ASVAB for Dummies a good study guide for the ASVAB?

We Answered:

There are no good ASVAB study guides.

The ASVAB is an aptitude test designed to show what you are capable of learning.

If you score higher than someone else, all it really means is that you have a higher probability of learning that job faster than the other person. The military has only a certain amount of time to train and if you reach a certain test score, there is a higher chance that you will be able to pick up on what is taught.

The ASVAB is a SPEED Test. You can be an expert in any/all subjects however if you are slow or if it takes you time to do each equation, your not going to do well on the test.

I don't care what other people think or say. I spent 5 years working with kids taking this test. Believe it or not, there were some people that would use these same study guides and actually score lower than they did on their initial test.

The Study guides will give you an idea of the type of questions that are asked, but that is about it.

Go back over and study your homework papers from High School electronics classes. That will be more helpful than anything else.

Army ASVAB study guide?

We Answered:

The best guide is Arco Asvab Basics...that covers the four sections of the test that determine your eligibility for enlistment. The other five or six are the vocational sections and determine your aptitude and abilities. If you don't know anything about mechanics that just means you are not mechanically inclined...no problem. The important sections are the two math sections, the reading section and the vocabulary section
