How does everyone feel about the study material-The ExamMatrix/MicroMash CPA Exam Review?

We Answered:

I've never even heard of this one; Becker is supposed to be the absolute best, and it worked for me.

Tammy Said:

Best study resource for CPA exam??

We Answered:

The best way to pass the CPA exam is to study using a review course such as Becker, Bisk, Kaplan, Flashpoint, or countless others. These courses prepare you for what will be on the exam. They also have many sample questions that will help you study.

The Becker program is the best and I am not just saying that because it is what I used. All of the Big 4 (PwC, Deloitte, E&Y, and KPMG), BKD, Grant Thornton, BDO, and McGladery all send their people through the Becker program.

The Becker program, while expensive, has several options. Live classes, CDs or on-line versions are all offered. Each is essentially the same. The lectures that you view on the CD course are the same ones that you will view when you go to the online class. Becker also has roughly 5000 total multiple choice questions split out between all of the sections. I had at least 2-3 on the actual exam that were word-for-word in the Becker samples. It also includes multiple 'simulations' that are set up in the exact format as the real exam.

I studied for about two hours per night, 8-12 hours each weekend, and took 2-3 days off before each section of the exam (for last minute prep). I did this for 4-5 weeks before each section that I took. The actual hours is roughly 150 per section. I know that this sounds like a lot, but I believe that it is better to over prepare now and not have to take them again later. I know people who have studied less and passed, but I can only speak to my belief. I used no other books or materials other than those provided by the Becker program.

I can't speak to the other review programs that I mentioned, but I think the key is to get a program and follow it. They all help you to zero in on the material that is "likely to be tested." The only program that I have heard bad things about is Gleim. They are reputed to cover too much material and not zero in on the "important" things.

Good Luck! Hope this helps....

What do you study from for the CPA exam?

We Answered:

if you don't already know then your not ready to take it.I'm a tax accountant and I love it it's easy and profitable.

you have to know the material there is no material sent to you,if you do not know the answer then you fail.

If you like siting in an office all day adding numbers together for a purpose then accounting is a rewarding job. CPA's make a good living I only work two months a year, but I'm exceptional

Max Said:

I am about to graduate with a BSc in Accounting and am preparing to study for the CPA exam. Any pointers?

We Answered:

In what state do you leave? In NY accountants are in a big demand. If you already have your BS in accounting and also experience in the field you should have no problems now finding a job.
I'm planing to go for my CPA myself, probably my first exam somewhere in quarter 4 this year.
I'm trying to learn in my own, follow this link, here you'll find all the material you need to get ready for the exam:
