Topic for research: do pretty patients get treated nicer than ugly ones?
Do dementia patients have less depression if they have a doll? [I'm serious, my grandmother and most of the ladies in the nursing home had one].
Do fibromyalgia patients complain of vision problems and what are the problems?

Johnnie Said:

Have you ever participated in a medical research study?

We Answered:

I have been in a couple. None involved taking a kind of medication though. The one tested different kind of crutches and how bad they hurt your underarms and the other one was designed to see if a certain kind of exercise helped people with FM.

I would recommend it if you have the time. They can be fun and you can even earn money for some. Plus they really can help out others.

Matthew Said:

Drinking while doing a medical research study?

We Answered:

DUDE!! Research study.... need I say more??

Two things.... 1) you really want to screw up the results of a study? 2) you really want to chance stressing out your liver by drinking a lot while taking an untested medicine?

Allow your body about an hour for every alcoholic drink to metabloize. so if you have 5 drinks allow 5 hours from the time you started drinking ... and so on.....

Kimberly Said:

How do I find a medical research study to participate in?

We Answered:

If you are in college, talk to a professor. They are always reading up on research and know of people who you could talk to. Also in college there are some internships offered.

If you arent in college it'll probably be harder. You should probably go and study some area of research that you are interested( CF, Deletion syndromes, anything). You should get some sort of degree or try to write a paper. This stuff would be favorable to persuade a person who is in charge of a study. Usually the people who are in charge are doctors(MD and PhD) and people who have masters. Just simple send them a polite email and try to explain why you would want to be part of the study and what you could contribute.
