Net Test Study Guide

Erik Said:

Can anyone give me some info on the Nursing Entrance Exam(NET)?

We Answered:

if you're talking about the RN Pre-Admission Exam given by the National League of Nursing, I can help you. It's basic math up to algebra, general science (bio, chem, physics, a&p), and verbal (vocabulary and reading comprehension).

I am trying to convince my parents to buy me a macbook pro i wrote this list well what do you think?

We Answered:

That sounds very convincing, I would definately go with it. Now to be 100% honest, at least half of the stuff you said is untrue, but hey who cares really, it sounded convincing so go for it. One thing I can think of is if you can weave in the whole argument about multimedia stuff like videos and photos, Macs are far superior in that regard. Again in reality that is total crap, but most people tend to believe it so go for it. Good luck!

Nursing NET Help?? Is it really hard?

We Answered:

I had to take the NET for my school. The only thing thing that was on the test was the math part and the reading comprehension part (grammar was not on it at all, although I wish it was :p)

The math is easy to study, and this is coming from a non-math person. If you can master all of the problems in your study guide you can easily get a 100 on this section. Actually, I highly recommend that you do get a 100 on this section. Make sure that when you are practicing, that you also time yourself. Your study guide should tell you how much time you have on that section (usually it's 1/2 hour.) Most of the problems were decimal conversions, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and fractions, and percentage conversion, and a little bit of basic algebra problems.

The reading, in my opinion, is much harder. This is coming from an English-reading oriented person. Many people at my school do fine on the math but end up failing or getting a low grade in the reading comprehension. I highly recommend that when you practice this, that you also time yourself and make sure that you can answer all the questions in that time frame. Many people run out of time on this section. My best advice is to practice, practice, practice. Google "reading comprehension quizzes" on a search engine and do some more. http://www.testprepreview.com/modules/re… is a good link.

Try and keep a clear head for the reading section. Don't trudge along too slow and concentrate on every single detail, but don't skim over the section in a jumpin' jack flash. It's better that you keep a steady pace - a normal reading pace. Most of the questions involve main idea, inferences, predictive outcome. They will not ask you a very detailed question. You almost need to comprehend the whole jist of things.

We were allowed to take the test 3 times total. Two of my attempts did not count because I didn't get a high enough grade in reading (we needed 70 or above.) My second attempt was my best score. I got 100 on math and 73 in reading - averaging out an 87. The math really saved me.

how to take a test...?

We Answered:

Sounds like a class where you need to read the book. If the teacher says that the tests are based on notes and lecture only, challenge him if one of the questions were not answered in the notes or lecture. If the tests are also based on info from the book, you're just going to have to read the book to pass this class. Don't wait until the last two days before a test to study, that's way too late. Stay on top of reading and study the study guide or notes as you go if they are provided at that time. Whatever you are currently doing definitely needs to change. You might ask the teacher to suggest how to study for his particular class (and without sounding like it's his/her fault for your bad grade). Good luck!
