Study Abroad Canada

Ernest Said:

I want to study abroad in Canada for a semester - how do I go about doing this?

We Answered:

Well if your going to live with your family the logical school to go to would be the one closest to where they live. Apply to whatever schools are close enough to commute to daily. Did you see if your school usually works with a specific university there for study abroad? sometimes they do and you don't get to choose the school. Look at the admissions page for transfers and international students but they might not accept people for just a semester so you might want to e-mail them. Yes, you would have to pay for the classes in Canada, unless you get a scholarship or some kind of financial aid, but you'll have to find out how all of that works in Canada. You will probably need a visa to get a job, or you could try to do a work study with the school. If you don't work, I don't know if you'll need a visa since you'll only be there for a short time and you'll be living with relatives. Look it up. Good luck!!

Becky Said:

i am plannig to go and study abroad in canada. what all should i do before i reach there?

We Answered:

BEFORE you can come to Canada, as a International student,., you MUST apply to, and be accepted, by a Canadian University, and have a letter of acceptance from that University in your hand. THEN you MUST apply to the Government of Canada, for a "student visa " that will allow you to come to Canada for be a full time University student, for a period of two years. When your studies are completed, you must leave Canada and go home.

You will be required to prove that you have the required CASH money, to pay for all your costs, while living in Canada, including tuition, books, accommodation, food ,transport, and health insurance coverage.

So get busy.

How to study abroad in Canada?

We Answered:

Canada has an excellent post-secondary education system with both publicly and privately funded institutions. Canadian institutions are not officially ranked. However, you will find that the local government holds the universities to high standards.

Each university and college has its own rules on how and when to apply in accord with the provincial or territorial government. You should apply a year before you want to start studies. The application will tell you about tuition fees, health insurance, cost of living in that particular area of Canada and what language tests are required.

Canada is a bilingual country with two official languages: English and French. The province of Québec has the largest French-speaking population in Canada. For the most part, the rest of Canada speaks English. This must be considered when applying to study abroad in Canada because admittance to most programs depends on language proficiency.

Canada welcomes more than 130,000 visiting students each year. In most cases you will need a study permit to study abroad in Canada. To obtain a study permit, you will need to prove that you are accepted by a Canadian school, you can afford all costs, you are a law-abiding citizen, you are in good health and you will leave Canada after completing your program. Students should apply for the permit immediately after being accepted.

From Canada, considering study abroad for a highschool semester ?

We Answered:

Studying abroad in Canada a good choice?

We Answered:

It is good to study in Canada because you will acquire another language-french. The schools are more structured and disciplined than those in the United States.
The cons are: if you don't like cold weather you won't like Canada. It is cold up in August. I've been there and I have family members who are still living in Canada. If you are serious and determine to learn, It is a good place to be as long as you bundle up. Have fun! Good luck!
