Becky Said:

Help finding a study abroad program for Summer 2009?

We Answered:

I would check out World Link Education at www.wle-spain.com They are still accepting.

Is it possible to ask a corporate company or franchise to sponsor a study abroad program?

We Answered:

?

What is the best study abroad program?

We Answered:

Rotary has a really good high scool exchange progam-low cost, great support and really, really nice people. Some downsides- you have 3 differnt host familys and you might not get your first choice of a country. I dont think changing host familys is a bad idea-i speak from experience.

Another big program is AFS. costs quite a bit more, but usually you get your first choice country and stay with one family a year.

Im in italy right now with rotary, annnd i think its one of the better programs out there.

What are some colleges that offer a study abroad program for South Korea?

We Answered:

Well, you can technically study abroad in South Korea without having to go through a specific university. So long as you get your academic advisor to write out and sign an agreement saying if you take X courses at the university they will transfer for X credits when you return. I don't think there is a site that lists universities by what countries they have available for study abroad. You would do better to just visit the study abroad website of the universities you're considering to see what they offer.
As just an example, NYU has an exchange program with the EWHA Womans University in Seoul (but obviously you'll need to be female to do this one) along with Yonsei University, also found in Seoul.

Which is more expensive, study abroad program or student visa and just going to a UK university?

We Answered:

Normally it is cheaper to enroll directly into a foreign university. I know this holds true in France. If you decide to study abroad for more than 3 months (90 days) you will have to get a student visa. Obtaining a visa is a long process- so start well in advance.

I work for a new travel/study abroad website that's dedicated to helping students go abroad. It's called Gulliver (http://www.gullivergo.com). You can search more than 2,000 programs in over 70 countries. Check out these UK programs (http://bit.ly/JsNpv). You can compare prices as well. Before you travel, check out our Prepare to Go section (http://www.gullivergo.com/prepare-to-go) to learn about funding, scholarships, housing, internet, visas, and other tidbits for your trip. We also have a discussion forum (http://www.gullivergo.com/discuss) where you can connect with students who are currently abroad or have recently returned home. Good Luck and Happy Travels!
