Study Abroad Semester

Study Abroad--Semester in Prague or Madrid OR Summer in Paris?

We Answered:

I may be biased, because I am currently studying in Paris for the semester. I'd say Prague, because you will get the chance to see the Czech Republic and one of the world's most historic areas. However, Paris is beautiful in the summertime and the language is a little easier to learn if you don't know it already. Paris is also France's center of government, and a lot of political protests go on here, so you may get to see one!

Should I study abroad for a semester or a year?

We Answered:

My answer would be try it for a semester, and if you like it, then extend it for a year. The reason why i say that is if you sign up for a year, and get there and not like where your staying at, you can just stay for a semester. Plus, if you've never traveled out of the country before, it's a culture shock dealing with different people, culture, and being away from everything you know. If you handle well with that, then staying is the best thing. If you are more attached to your family and culture, a semester would be better, then after that you can try another extended stay. I've had the same experience when i went to Italy for the first time. I was a little homesick, and the language barrier frustrated me. But after staying for a short time, then going home, i was able to appreciate it more, and the next time, i stayed for 5 months without any problems. Hope this helps!

About how much do Study Abroad programs cost for a semester or summer?

We Answered:

it really does vary. Ex. what kind of lodging do u want?? Do you want it near the school or far?? what country do u want to go?? Also, It depends on what program you go to. There are programs that only makes you pay $5000 but there are some that makes you pay $7000 or $9000 on summer.

As for a semester.. well.. so far the most expensive that i've seen in right around $14,000

They are quite expensive so my advice is for you to wait until you get to college and just do a study abroad program!! You only have to pay the same amount of tuition fee! Its great!

Is it best to study for a summmer, semester, or year abroad for high school?

We Answered:

it really depends how into it you are. i've personally always wanted to go for a summer or maybe a few weeks...but never a full semester or year. that would be too hard.

Find out what programs your school site offers and determine if you can make up one that does give you credit for what you will be doing.

I'm going to study abroad this semester and I would like to know if you have any advice or tips?

We Answered:

Hey,

Although I shouldn't be doing your homework for you here's some ideas, lol. Venturing abroad to study allows you as an individual to obtain an international perspective on society. It allows you to view various cultures around the world through cultural relativism (meaning for what they are worth), rather then through an ethnocentric mindset. You're able to witness and understand foreign education and the importance of certain civic issues. Certain cities such as London, the largest in most populated in Europe, is the epitome of a melting pot, with numerous individuals coming from different religions and cultural backgrounds. This immediate surrounding enables you to develop your awareness of these people and so forth.

Hope this helps!
