Study In Denmark

Joann Said:

anyone know a university in Denmark where I could study psychology in English?

We Answered:

What you should do is perhaps email the British Embassy in Denmark http://ukindenmark.fco.gov.uk/en/ for assistance as regards studying at university there. Ask for a list of universities and specialisations. It may be an interesting email you send but it might provide productive results.

They will be able to refer you to the relevant offices where information is provided.

Fred Said:

I want go to study in Denmark , give me some advice and information about it.?

We Answered:

I studied abroad in Denmark through Danish International Study (DIS). and I absolutely LOVED it. The classes were in english (which was especially helpful since I don't speak Danish)

Try their website: http://www.dis.dk/

A few tips:
- if you are not sure what kind of classes to take, fo for European history they don't require a core class so you can take whatever you want

- take Danish!

- if you are at all interested in business or marketing take Creative Industries... the teacher is amazing and the class is extremely cool (there are class field trips to Tivoli (the amusement park) and a nightclub)

- live at the Folkehojskole. everyone tried for the kollegium and the folkehojskole is SO MUCH BETTER. I have heard that some people didn't enjoy their stay in Denmark and found some of the danes unfriendly. Not at the folkehojskole!

- LIVE AT THE FOLKEHOJSKOLE (i know i sound like a broken record but trust me this will make your study abroad expereince so much better)

- turn your stuff in early, they admit on a rolling deadline so the earlier you turn stuff in the better your chances of being accepted and living where you want and taking the classes you want

- start saving your money now, the exchange rate is not that good for the dollar right now and Denmark can be a little bit expensive, you don't want to get over there and have to budget yourself constantly or not be able to afford to travel around

- also DIS gives you 3 weeks off in the middle of the semester to travel around Europe so think of other places to see. I saw Amsterdam/paris/rome/Capri/Barcelona and Madrid but if you get a Eurorail pass you can go basically anywhere

- consider going in the fall, Christmastime in Denmark is one of the best times of the year and something you don't want to miss

Terrence Said:

Should I, a black female, go to Denmark for the Study Abroad Program?

We Answered:

I won't lie and say that there aren't any racism in Denmark, but I don't think you have much to worry about, there are the occasional ignoramus, but for most people your skin color will be a good conversation starter. You are in one of the more safe places in the world, but it never hurts using a little dose of healthy caution when exploring (as I would advise anyone to do visiting new unknown places).

You will most likely be taught in English if you attend University and 90% of Danes speaks English so that won't be a problem.

On a side note Denmark is an expensive place to live so if you're short on funds maybe it's not the best place.

Another little advise if you're there for a whole year is buy a bicycle and save a good chunk of money getting around. You can get a good, but cheep bicycle at police auctions.

Hope you enjoy your stay in DK :-)
