Study In Georgia Europe

Clayton Said:

chances at Dartmouth, Stanford, Princeton, MIT, UChicago?

We Answered:

First, congratulations on your accomplishments. You have a very strong application, stronger than most. The hiking, food-critic, and Eagle scout extracurriculars are especially interesting and show a lot of personality. I wouldn't worry about those Bs at all.

You definitely have a good chance of getting into at least one of these schools, as long as your letters of rec are positive too.

Will it be assumed that you are white or Asian if you leave your ethnicity blank - usually yes, and in your case definitely. Your activities scream "rich white kid" - not to say that you are definitely white or rich, but that is what will be assumed. On that note, leave the "traveled around Europe" thing off your application, unless you financed it yourself or did something important there - to be able to travel around Europe for fun implies a lot of privilege that you might not necessarily want to highlight.

Should you put Young Republicans on your application - UChicago, Dartmouth, and Princeton are more conservative than most of the upper-tier schools, so that would probably be okay (though if you don't want to be surrounded by mostly-socially-liberal students, you might not feel comfortable there). Not sure about MIT, and I would assume that Stanford is on the liberal side.

Go ahead and add Harvard and Yale to your list. They are mostly liberal but still have a group of rich, Southern conservative types (Yale's Tory Club, for example). You probably wouldn't fit at Brown or Columbia, but UPenn-Wharton might be good.

Other schools you might be interested in - Georgetown, Duke, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Rice, Baylor, UVA, William & Mary.

Good luck!

Please help me
Hi there!

My friend sent me your page because we both used to work at Sam’s Club.

She still works there as a cashier but I was wrongfully terminated Monday night May 7, 2007.

I have been a faithful employee for over a year there.

I worked in the Optical center.

I worked there part time, go to school full time and intern as well.

Wednesday, May 2, 2007 I clocked in earlier, at 4:00, wasn’t secluded until 4:30 so as I was on my way down I got distracted and didn’t end up going down there till 4:24.

All night long I didn’t have one member it felt like so when I went to take my break I lost track of time.

I was called back to Optical because there was a member waiting, although I didn’t get the page because I was upstairs in the break room.

One of the managers Robert came up to tell me and asked me how long I had.

I said 2 minutes because at that time I realized that I had lost track.

So I went down there a minute later and they were gone.

Later on Robert comes in optical leaning on my desk, right in my face (too close for comfort) and asked me if I was on my lunch.

I said “On my lunch, I was on break.” He asked me if I knew if breaks were only supposed to be 15 min? I said yes, then he asked me how long was I up there, I said like 20.

I knew that I had messed up. That night I clocked out at 8:20 instead of 8:30 because I didn’t want to get in trouble again for having clocked in early.

My next day back to work was Monday. My manager was acting weird so I knew something was up but had no idea what. About 8:00 I was called up to the manager’s office and the manager from the front end (she’s new I don’t know her name) terminated me.

All the time that I worked at Sam’s I have never got a member’s complaint, never written up, never couched, not a D-day, nothing.

I don’t understand how they can just fire me like that.

They said that I stold company hours which makes sense but I don’t think that it’s fair that other people get all these warnings and I just jet canned.

Now my friend is saying that Robert (Robert C?) told everyone that I lied to him, which I didn’t.

I don’t think that it’s fair.

I feel that they were just making an example out of me.

I not looking for my job back or anything.

Funny thing is that day I got fired I was going to put my 2 weeks in but couldn’t because, Debbie (the lady that does that) wasn’t there that day.

I just feel like it wasn’t fair to me at all and I know when I’m mistreated. I’m asking for advice, is there anything that I would be able to do?

I really don’t know what to do. Like I said I don’t want my job back, I just want justice.

SINGLE MOTHER IN A NEED OF PLANNING FUTURE?

We Answered:

One thing that i might recommend is to look into practicing law in the state of Louisiana. Louisiana is the only Civil Law state in the USA ( I think it will help because you are used to practicing civil law in Georgia, and it should be quite a bit easier than having to learn american common law)

Immigration Law is a great way to make money as well as help people, in addition there are large pockets of both Georgian and Russian immigrants in New Orleans and your law degree as well as your being able to talk to them in the native language will be a great benefit to your clients.

Is the UK really as bad as people make out?

We Answered:

There are many good universities besides Oxford and Cambridge - Durham,Edinburgh,St Andrews,Sussex etc. We have our fair share
of crime, drug addiction and drunkeness in certain areas of most large cities, but I believe most of the U.K. is still predominantly safe as long as you take a few simple precautions; going out to clubs at night with a group of friends rather than on your own, for example and just avoiding the rougher parts of town. The experience of a good university education in the U.K. will not only expose you to the best possible educational experience, but also give you the opportunity to experience wonderful arts, culture, history and our beautiful countryside. Go for it.
