Yes, it is possible to just pop over the border and come back to renew your 90 days on a tourist visa. OFFICIALLY, of course, it's not allowed, but I did it for years on an American passport.

Usually (from Budapest) I would just go up to Esztergom or Komarom, cross the border, hang out for a few hours, and come back by bike or on foot. But I've done it at other border crossings too.

I never had any problems, but technically they can refuse you entry if you have too many stamps in your passport as a tourist. I've heard about a guy that this happened to, but he was eventually able to talk his way back into the country. But since your visa status will be from student to tourist, there won't be any problems with this. It's only when you do it multiple times as a tourist that it may potentially be risky.

In the United States, there are no "IB requirements" for college.

You dont have to take certain IB classes to get into a certain college...IB gives you an IB diploma, just like a normal high school diploma only its international. You get credit for taking IB courses depending on the college and how well your IB exam scores are.

Each college has its IB policy listed somewhere online (when I say that I mean getting credit for classes once admitted to the university, not IB classes that are required to be accepted into a university.) If you cant find it, call the university.

yeah, those places are not bad, but when you come back to america, you will have to take a whole bunch of tests and fill out tons of paperwork, because you won't be able to practice medicine without going through a whole bunch of hoopla and jump through so many hoops..you're better off just staying here and studying here at home, in america, land of the free, home of the brave

You may find that your girlfriend can accompany you during your studies, if she doesn't want to then that is decision you will have to make.

right now in budapest, no. probably will be in ELTE, (eötvös loránd tudományegyetem) could start in this autumn
there are medical physics in Pécs, and in Szeged. Szeged is pretty good to, but I think ELTE is better.
