Study Italian In Italy
Bernice Said:
What is a good college to go to to study Italian and Writing? We Answered:
You should try considering a college with a great study abroad program in Italy, that also happens to have a good English or Journalism program. I believe the undergraduate Journalism program at NYU is highly lauded, as are their course offerings in English and writing. Also, more students study abroad from NYU (usually at one of their satellite campuses-a villa in Italy being one of them), than at any other school in the country. I would look into that if I were you, sounds almost perfect for the combination you're looking.Beverly Said:

Studying abroad in Italy next month - how hard will it be to learn the language? We Answered:
Hi AudraI don't think you'll have any problem. It's fairly easy to understand Italian especially if you already know a little - the hard thing is remembering the words so you can reply!
Italian people tend to speak at least a little English (most European peopple put the US and UK to shame when it comes to speaking second languages) and if they don't, you can always mime!
You've already started to learn Italian, and you want to speak it. Those are the two most important factors for picking the language up quickly. You'll find Italian people are happy you are trying to learn their language, and they will be very patient with you, and pleased to help.
Ask them to speak more slowly if you can't understand them. Have a couple pf phrases ready to explain that you want to learn but need to take it slowly (I always find 'piano a piano' - little by little - goes down well as an explanation).
When you're there, as well as speaking to people try watching Italian TV and read newspapers and magazines whenever you get the chance. I also make a point of reading everything I see - billboards, street signs, anything. You'll then start to fill your head with Italian and you'll find the language comes to you easily.
Italian is a beautiful language. Italy's a beautiful country and the people are so welcoming and friendly. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Enjoy!

I want to study in Italy or Spain in August? We Answered:
I am in love with Italy! I studied for a month there with the University of California-Davis and had a BLAST. I also went to France on a UC Davis trip and both trips were very well-planned with excellent instructors. A link to UC Davis's summer abroad site is below. HAVE FUN!!!
