My favorite ways are to grab my mp3 recorder (I used to do it on tape back in the day) and record my lines. It really helps if the other people in your scene will do it with you, or you can just get a friend to read your cue lines. Listening to the recording over and over is way faster to memorize than reading it over and over. I have been known to memorize whole passages just by saying them out loud a few times at rehearsals. I was never one to be able to just sit and read it to myself and memorize it that way.

For monologues, I do the above PLUS I try and hand write it out by memory. Usually the first several tries will be way off base but eventually I can write it down near word perfect and I know it's pretty much tattooed in my brain by then.

If you have a bachelor's degree, you can pursue an MLS (Master's of Library Science) online. San Jose State University is where my husband did his program.

Unfortunately, they do, in fact, exist. The premise is this:

You buy the tapes, follow the training instructions, and then videotape yourself executing the techniques. Then you ship the tapes, with any written testing that may be required, to the "governing" body responsible for managing the program. If you have demonstrated sufficient ability to perform the technique (translation: if you paid a high enough price for the program, and submit the requisite fees for the "testing") you are notified that you may advance in rank to the next belt level. Depending on how much space you have, and how good you are at discerning the technique from watching a tape and mimicking what you see, you can actually progress from totally unskilled in Martial arts to being "legitimately" able to call yourself a Black Belt in your chosen (paid for) style.

From what I hear, some of the more popular organizations providing these services are:

CPMAA - Couch Potato Martial Arts Association
BBMAF - Backyard Brawler Martial Arts Federation
MABFI - Martial Arts Black Belt Factory International (special discount for thrid wolrd applicants)
HKFPL - High Kick Flashy Punch League
WWMAIF - Wish I Was a Martial Artist International Foundation

I'm sure there are others, but these, from what I understand, are the most popular, and award black belts in the shortest amount of time.
