How to create a low budget craft room ?

We Answered:

I don't know why the previous answer mentioned that website, it's just expensive furniture and hammocks!

The idea of a dresser or file cabinet, depending on the size of your supply collection, is excellent.

There are some very good free containers you can save from around your house or pick up from freinds that I've found useful for my crafts to organize: shoe boxes are just the size for pre-cut card paper! They can also hold glue, tape and scissors. You can also use any cardboard box you get in the mail. Large envelopes or filefolders hold larger paper. Keep your eyes open for tin or plastic containers being thrown away -- just clean them carefully. Washed out jars for ribbons, buttons, and other small embellishments -- baby food jars are great to sort buttons, brads, eyelets etc. by color. If you have spool ribbon, you can make a dispenser from a shoe box and a chopstick, or some other long thin tube (wooden dowels): cut a hole high in each small end of the shoe box -- so the dowel runs the long way across the box. Thread your spools on the dowel inside the box, then cap each end by tying some fabric on it on the outside of the box or wrap a big lump of large rubber bands. That way the dowel won't fall out. Poke as many holes on the long sides of the box as you have spools and thread the ribbon through, replace lid.
All these containers can be decorated with your card craft supplies and then when you take them out, no one can complain that your workplace isn't pretty!
Another idea is to make a skirt for the table -- not the top, just around the sides down to the floor -- in a fabric that goes well with the room, and this will hide any under-table storage.

Good luck and have fun!

What color should I paint my room?

We Answered:

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think it would look terrific if you paint your room a bright pale blue like "water squirt" (# 7132). If you really want a funky feature wall for behind your bed, then I think a bright pink like "hibiscus" (# 6851) would be cool.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

How do I make a small room both a bed room and a work/study space?

We Answered:

well if you have a laptop you can get a laptop stand, I have one it works great pulled up to my bed, I can use it as a desk to do my homework on, and a good place to use my computer. just add a chalkboard, i suggest a whiteboard, less mess, and a calender you like.
