Francisco Said:Can a social studies teacher require students to do 10 push ups for incomplete homework assignments?
We Answered:Sounds to me that this might be an alternative to serving a detention. Hey, it's a healthy activity, and your teacher should be aware of any health concerns in his or her class. I wouldn't challenge the teacher, but you might inquire about it. Sometimes what you hear at home is a little different from the reality, as I'm sure you are aware.
Velma Said:How to tell my parents that i am failing social studies?
We Answered:The best thing to do would be to tell the truth and talk to your parents. They might not be too happy, but they'll like it that you were honest at least. Unless you kinda have a difficult home life situation, talk to a counselor on your options.
I hope you read what's below, if not, if you made it this far, thanks for reading even if you don't like my long answer
To help you stay focus, just "studying", I don't think it's enough. I can't just open a textbook, read it through 50 times and think I know the material. You have to be sure. What I would do, is write an outline of your subject. Like if you're studying about .. I don't know, the human body or the Egyptian pharaohs, whatever you're studying, write down the main points and go over them. It's quicker
Write sticky notes.
Make flash cards.
Ask your teacher[s] to stay after school with you to go over it for like, say, fifteen minutes would be good, I guess. It's a good idea to write down what they say in case. They're there to help you. My sci teacher's always like, "If you don't get something, I'm HERE to help you" I suck at science too, and I'm the only one that goes after school but whatever ^____^ I need the help. (I don't have socials yet, but I suck at socials too).
Paul Said:What bachelor's degree should I get to become a social studies high school teacher?
We Answered:This is Missouri, but I think it should work similarly. You should probably get a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in social studies/sociology in order to be qualified to teach high school. You'll need education courses in order to learn how to make lesson plans, classroom strategy, etc. Plus, you have to take various tests to become licensed/etc. The other option is to get a bachelor's in sociology/political science, then get a master's in education with the proper emphasis.
Now, you can do a bachelor's degree in something else and get certified later, but I think you should look into education. You may have more career options that way, plus you'll get to student teach and make connections in schools around your community. You'll also develop a portfolio, have lesson plans when you start to teach, and do lots of other useful activities that pertain to teaching.
Valerie Said:How do I find out my average grade for social studies?
We Answered:If you are hanging at a 78 percent consider that the 100 percent. Then 25% of that you would need to get perfect to keep the 78 percent, and anything lower than about 20% would bring you lower than 75. You need an almost perfect or absolutely perfect score to get your 75+
Carlos Said:What's the difference between Social Studies and Sociology?
We Answered:Social studies is a term used to describe the broad study of the various fields which involve past and current human behavior and interactions. Rather than focus in depth on any one topic, social studies provides a broad overview of human society past and present. Examples of subjects typically covered in social studies include: history, economics, geography, government, culture, psychology, sociology and other social science.
Sociology is the systematic and scientific study of society, including patterns of social relationships, social action, and culture. Areas studied in sociology can range from the analysis of brief contacts between anonymous individuals on the street to the study of global social processes. Numerous fields within the discipline concentrate on how and why people are organized in society, either as individuals or as members of associations, groups, and institutions. As an academic discipline, sociology is most often considered as a branch of social science.
