Is there any cheaper Study Abroad Programs?

Not exactly sure if you are now in H.S. and will be in college in a few years? If that is the case than, depending on which school you go to, your university might have a direct exchange program. This would allow you to pay regular tution and broad to your university (which you would do any way) and then go to study in Germany. Also, I have noticed that there are a lot of scholarships for programs in Germany (at least at my school). You should look further into your universities study abroad center to see what options you may have. Germany is an awesome choice by the way. :)

I would like to know of any good, cheap study abroad programs...?

We Answered:

While you are too young to do an overseas exchange right now -- the youngest you can usually go is 15 -- by knowing you want to do it, you are off to a great start.

First, programs ARE expensive, although there are scholarships available. You have the opportunity to save money. If you've worked toward this, you have much more credibility with both the organization you choose AND your parents!

Second, you have to work with your own school to make sure that you get all the credits you need. I recommend going in your junior year of high school. That way you get all the senior activities in as well plus you have the opportunity to get any credit you might have inadvertently missed.

Third, choose a program! For example, we host students through the Aspect Foundation http://aspectfoundation.org/
You can get a lot of information on their web site to help you.

Finally, you have time to study a language! Get after it! :)

My husband and I have hosted 12 students now -- it's the experience of a lifetime and I highly recommend you trying it!

Cheap 'Study Abroad' Programs?

We Answered:

I'm sure that there must be scholarships available, but I'm not familiar with any. Try asking a counsler at you high school. Another thing, all of the programs I loked at online (England only, I didn't look Ireland so you might check that, though it's probably the same) required you to be at least 16 and have completed your junior year, so you wouldn't be eligible yet.

If you wait until college, it's easier to afford. It's still expensive, but you can apply for lots of scholarships. Besides, you are already paying for college anyway, so it's not THAT much more expensive as long as all your credits transfer.

Good luck and I hope I was able to help! :)

What is a cheap study abroad program in London?

We Answered:

$8000 is far too much and probably comes from for profit or barely not for profit programs. Get a good study abroad adviser at a university, like UT Austin, to help you find a solid affordable program, using an American university program in the UK, not a company. Note that almost all UK universities are closed in the summer except those seeking dollars from US students.
