Where can I find a book or study guide to help me pass a college level reading placement test?We Answered:
I'm not sure what the reading class consists of. If it means you're not reading at the college level, then I'd encourage you to just read! The newspaper, magazines, and regular novels. If it's for writing, then there are grammar and comprehension books that can help you brush up. Good luck out of testing out! Some schools can be really strict.

Anyone know a good study guide for an Algebra college placement test?We Answered:
I know this might sound stupid, but the Complete Idiot's Guide to Algebra is a great book. The author is very knowledgeable, funny, and helpful. Also, for square root problems, there's not a lot to it (Assuming they let you take a calculator to the test). In the book I recommended, it explains lots of advanced techniques for square root problems.
Troy Said:
college placement test, know where i can get a study guide, showing me how to do the questions..?We Answered:
College placement tests cover, pre-algebra, algebra, college algebra, trigonometry and geometry for the most part. I am terrible at math, but I studied out of the books called Pre-Algebra Demystified, Algebra Demystified and College Algebra Demystified. They are easy-to-absorb, self-teaching guides that will help you pass your math placement test with ease! They did for me and I remembered all the material when I got to the school to take my test. Without them, I know for a fact I would have had to take like 4 extra and unwanted math classes! I bought mine at Books-A-Million. They are $19.95 a piece or $17.95 if you have a club card. I'm keeping my books for my furture children! They show you how to do the work, give you several example problems and the between 5 to 10 practice problems. At the end of each chapter there is a 20 question quiz. At the end of the book, there is a 100 question exam. On all of these books I made a 95 or higher....and I used to SUCK at math! Just check them out. I know you will love them!Buying SAT or ACT books are hard to read and are very intimidating because they are all over the place with questions and they don't explain how to work the problems. Those books assume you already know how to do that kind of work. They are not the best study guide at all for math...if you struggle with math and have a hard time understanding it.
Raymond Said:
Is it a good idea to skip questions on the College placement test?We Answered:
You definitely should NOT skip questions. There's no penalty for guessing on the CPT. It's better to take a random guess because you might just be right.Calculators aren't allowed. You just get a piece of paper and a pencil, and you do the math by hand.

Is there anywhere online I can get a college placement test study guide? We Answered:
My experience has been that each school has its own placement tests, so there is no standard test. Your best bet is to contact the school you are planning to attend. That said, the point of the placement test is to show the school what your knowledge level is so that they put you in the correct level class. For instance, my son did not do so well on his verbal SAT, and his college required an English placement test to determine if he needed remedial English, or if he was ready for freshman English.
I hope this helps!
