Good Ways To Study

Lori Said:

What are some good ways to study for AP Biology?

We Answered:

When I was in AP Bio, I always took notes in outline form, and used the margins of my notebook to draw illustrations, diagrams, and and page numbers. I also developed a form of shorthand that allowed me to write 99% of what the teacher said in a very reasonable time. Of course I also read and memorised quite a lot... I always read the chapter(s) at least once all the way through, and usually read them aloud. I also memorised diagrams -- like the Krebs cycle -- by drawing them over and over again until I got them perfectly right. That class is really rough, I know, but if you study well, then you should do well. I did, and got a 4. Good luck!

what are some good ways to study for my chem regents?

There are basic concepts there I hope they would help. The best way to know whether you're failing is to take some practice exams. I guess your teacher gave you practice tests right? Review them. Do you have any Regents review books? If you don't have any, please do not panic. Think positively! If you don't get the questions on the exam, try looking at the Reference Table if there would be any clues. Most questions on atomic masses or organic structures are on the Reference Table. Do not think you would fail, it would only make you nervous more. Go to http://www.nysedregents.org/testing/scir… and look at those test questions and answers. Sleep early today, bring your calculator tomorrow. Rest well, relaxed, don't be nervous because Chemistry Regents is one of the hardest Regents and a lot of students are nervous too so you're not the only one. I hope my answers help. Good luck!

Edit: PS.If you don't have any review book now, you could try this: go to Barns & Nobles and buy the High Marks: Chemistry Regents Made Easy (it's the best Chemistry Regents review book in my opinion and a lot of students use it) and look over bold words or some math problems. Return the book after you took the Regents and get your money back. This is only for emergency though. Good luck!

What are some good ways to study?

We Answered:

Highlite important passages, take notes in class that are as detailed as possible and while reading take your own notes for study purposes. Make sure that you read BEFORE class (tough sometimes I know, but I had a prof who loves to just pick random people with the worst questions...) and get a study group of 2-3 people started for each class. Do this and you'll be guaranteed to earn A's in post secondary (I do, so I know this works...).

What are some good ways to study for my finals?

Here are a few suggestions.

1. Have all of your materials ready and in the place that you are going to study.

3. Study when its quiet. No music, no TV, No headphones, no nothing.

4. Do your most difficult subject fist or else you may never get to it.

5. Keep a calendar so that you know when a project is due or a test is going to be given.

6. Vocabulary is very important. Words have different meanings. You need to know the meaning for the subject that you are taking.

7. Study the relationship of things. How is the topic that you studied related to the unit that you are studying?

8. Your textbook has hints for you. Many books have important words or phrases in darkened or colored type, make sure that you know them thoroughly.

The sites below are excellent and will give you many other ideas about studying.

What are good ways to get into a good study habit?

We Answered:

I would make time every day to study. Schedule it and go somewhere away from home so you're surrounded by less distractions. If you have a big test or project, outline what needs to get done and when. A DayRunner or FiloFax really helps and Post-It's are great too! Make sure to give yourself breaks and rewards. That way you'll be more inclined to focus on your studies when you're supposed to. Remind yourself that you are only cheating yourself if you don't get your work/studying done.
