How To Study For Exams

Craig Said:

Any good study hints and habits for exams?

We Answered:

Establish a routine
Set aside a particular time each day for study and revision and stick to it.

Create a study environment
This should be away from interruptions and household noise, such as the television. Ensure there is adequate lighting and ventilation, a comfortable chair and appropriate desk.

Set a timetable
With a timetable you can plan to cover all your subjects in an organised way, allotting the appropriate time for each without becoming overwhelmed.

Look after yourself
Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, and eat healthy foods. Keep sugary foods to a minimum. Make sure you get enough sleep each night. Regular physical exercise makes you feel great, boosts your energy and helps you relax. So try to keep up regular sporting activities or at least fit in some regular exercise as often as you can.

Reward yourself for studying
Watch your favourite television program, spend time with your friends, walk to the park and play sport throughout the week.

Have variety in your study program
Study different subjects each day and do different types of work and revision in each study session.

Avoid interrupting your concentration
Have all the appropriate materials with you before you start a session of study to minimise distractions.

Test yourself on what you have studied
Ask your parents or family members to quiz you on what you have learnt, use draft questions from books, past assessments or major exam papers.

Don't panic at exam time
If you have followed a study routine and have been revising your class work, there should be no need to worry. Try to keep yourself calm, positive and confident.

Ask your teachers for guidance
Especially if you're having trouble - whether it's grasping a new concept or understanding something you learnt earlier in the year. They will be happy to help.

Edna Said:

i dont know how to study, exams soon. Help please?(sorry if its long)?

We Answered:

-Take notes of IMPORTANT stuff and don't include words like ''the'' ''and'' etc eg The war ended in 1945 - War ended 1945. So basically if there's a huge chunk of writing, look for the necessary information like in my business book it has on the Consumer chapter something like ''We all buy things'' - we all know that so it's not important

-Write in bullet points (like this answer)

-For definitons that you don't understand/can't learn, write in your own words (of if you forget the exact wording if it on the day)

-Read over your notes/definitions a few times until you feel like you know them. Cover them and say out loud. If you know them, test yourself by writing them out a few times on a separate piece of paper and do any corrections needed. If you don't know them, go back and learn them.

-If you're finding it hard to take in all of it or some of the information, record yourself on your phone or something, reading out what you've written and instead of listening to music at night, listen to them.

-If there's any questions at the end of the chapter, answer them yourself as they might come up.

Good luck:)

Which study/exam taking strategies have people found useful in scoring 90 to 100% on university/college exams?

We Answered:

college is not high school. your level of understanding of the material needs to be better than it could be in high school. if you think you know everything the test is on you likely do not. try to learn it until you could "do it with your eyes closed" for study tips i just do homework and read the chapter. that works for me

How do you study for exams?

We Answered:

1. Set the time you're going to study
Some people have the time of the day when they like to study. Etc., I like studying in the evening, and my friend likes to study in the morning. If you don't know when's the best time for you, then just do it whenever you're not feeling sleepy.

2. Underline important things
If you're learning from a book, underline everything you think is important. It will be a lot easier when you have to revise.

3. Block all the noise
So you can focus.

4. Get a chewing gum
I don't know why, but they say it helps remember things.

5. Set on the alarm clock
No reasonable explanation, but it helps me focus. Set the alarm clock to go off about 1 - 1,5 (depends on how much you have to study) hours after you start studying. That is the end of studying. But if it goes off before you finish with studying, turn it off and finish studying.

6. Revise
The night before the big exam, just before you go to bed, revise.

7. Sleep
You have done all you could. Now just make sure you have a good night sleep, and in the morning, I guarantee you, you'll know everything you've studied for!

How to study for a social studies exam?

We Answered:

find a quiet place (your room, library) and go over the summary at the end of each chapter. Go over quizzes/test taken during the year as well. Get together with a classmate and quiz each other. Your parents may help as well. A tutor may also help. Next time, don't wait until the end of the year to seek help. Grades are important so do the best you can! Good luck!!

Irene Said:

What or how to study for final exams?

We Answered:

take the book you use and all the notes and sheets you have, then sit down and read all that you have to out loud to somebody, and after every chapter reflect on what you read, you don't need to have somebody there.

Discuss It!
