Trust me, I used to take a B until I started to practicing everyday for at least an hour now I am an ace in Math Algebra Geometry!

You're not far behind, but moving forward! If you have a genuine interest and drive, then engineering is right for you.

The actual math you need to earn an engineering degree is much more difficult than the math you need in practice. A basic knowledge of Algebra, Trignometry, Geometry, Calculus, Differential Equations, and Statistics is necessary to complete a degree in engineering. A good understanding of mathematics and sciences will provide an excellent foundation for understanding engineering principles. Good luck and I admire your tenacity.

The best and only way to be a great math student is problems, problems, problems. The more you do the more you'll learn. Math and science is not like a history class where you can just the read materiel and learn it. Personally I do every odd problem and you might say that's a lot but there are benefits; I don't ever have to cram for tests and during finals while everyone is busy preparing I'm out snowboarding.

You say you're behind in math, I would suggest starting at math level that is equivalent with your math ability. That might mean taking remedial courses but in the long run it will be worth it. If you don't decide to take this advise you will fail! If you decide to jump in to college algebra or whatever it will feel like your taking two or three math classes at the same time and you will feel overwhelmed, stresses out and you'll give up. Personally: I started out in 060 (second from the bottom) and now I'm in calculus three and differential equations consistently getting 97% - 100% on tests and homework. So, just start where your ability is at and you'll do great. It may take a bit longer but you won't struggle as much nor will you be playing catch up to just keep up with the class.

if you know that you dont try hard enough..then try harder i mean if you know you arent giving it 100 percent you can fix it before its too late. if you dont understand things ask friends or even the teacher dont end up like some people at my highschool who graduate having barely taken geometry - ___ -

i.e. from Kaplan or the Collegeboard

The PSAT comes with a practice test, take it.

Do some SAT/PSAT practice simulation tests.
