Monterey is a nice area, You are right next to the ocean, Cannery Row, Monterey Bay, Carmel by the Sea, Carmel (Where Clint Eastwood was mayor).

Closest "big" town is Salinas, home of John Steinback.
Mostly rural/agricultural area.

If you like that, you will like Monterey. Lots of nice shops and stuff.

Unless... you are talking about some other Monterey.. If so.. oops.

Never attended the school, but I have a lot of relatives in the area.

I think it's a great idea ... but you do need to learn that "abroad" means another country, not another place in the same country.

I actually had a friend who went from Kansas to Washington D.C. who had a similar disability to yours and she graduated with honors!

Yes , It's a really good option.
The city is very diversed with people speaking so many languages on campus, more than 50.
The professors are mostly retired UN staff and you will get a lot of real life experience there..

It is a great school in a beautiful place. Not a whole lot of night-life but if you are an outdoorsy person there is a lot to do in the area and lots of ways to meet people. There's a lot of great food and a decent comedy club in the area as well.
