What type of Techniques and study skills are useful?

Look into taking the ACT. Most (if not all) colleges accept either SAT or ACT scores, and chances are, you'll do significantly better on one of them. When I was a junior, I scored a 1150 (reading and math) on the SAT, which I wasn't satisfied with. I did really well with the math portion but I struggled with the reading. The ACT is a different kind of test and it was much easier for me, personally. I scored a 30, which is equivalent to a 1340 on the SAT.

This is a helpful website that talks about the differences between the two tests:

Definitely take both the SAT and ACT though, and then think about retaking the one you did better on. As for studying, just take a few more practice tests, and don't stress out. Focus on your trouble spots and try your best. That's all there is to it, really. There's only so much studying you can do.
