is taking a student loan for my studies in singapore a good idea?

We Answered:

by education i assume u mean a degree-course

most universities/institutes offer student loans via a tie-up with banks. repayment starts after you graduate.

you can choose how long you want the payback to be, but the longer it is, the more interest you incur.

checkout the university's website to find out more.

is there some kind of a bond that you sign for singapore undergrad studies which gives you fee concessions?

We Answered:

It's called the Tuition Grant. It is granted by the Singapore Governement and you can only use it once, i.e. if you've received it for your undergrad studies, you can't get it for a second degree, a postgrad, or any other further studies.

The other catch is you can only use it if you're studying in certain universities / polytechnic approved by the government.

It pays about 80% of the total tuition fee. You DONT have to pay the government back in cash, but you have to be employed in Singapore for 3 years after your graduation.

You can check Singapore's Ministry of Education website: http://sam11.moe.gov.sg/tass/menu/tg.htm

Or, refer to the website of the university you're applying to, under Financial Assistance.

how to get the suggestion on immigration and studies in singapore?

We Answered:

It's easy to get a PR in Singapore, especially if you're Chinese, or if your job is very much in demand.
In Singapore, there are many MBA graduates. Because of that, you should expect lower pay than the foreign expatriates - about 1/4 their pay.
Singapore values experience more (in terms of how their pay packets increase based on which factor) than the paper qualification (it is important to get an entry-level job in the workforce).
Immigration wise it would be much more difficult if you're from a South Asian country (no offense, South Asians or other Asians are only given work depending on their experience, and depending on how much pay they are demanding.) because of the overinflux of South Asians looking for jobs in Singapore.
If you want to know more specific details, you can try going to this popular expat website:
