Study Abroad Australia

Marjorie Said:

Which school should I study abroad with in Australia?

We Answered:

Hello,
I do not have any experience in Australia but you can always find testimonies on http://www.idp.com , the official web portal of the Australian government to assist International students.

For a list of Universities, http://www.geebeeworld.com

All the best!

How exactly do you study abroad in Australia from the USA?

We Answered:

I would first encourage you to take a trip to your university study abroad office. They would be able to best tell you how to apply for a study abroad program in Australia.

In general though, there are two different kinds of study abroad programs - those sponsored by your university and those run by private organizations. API, CEA, AustraLearn, CIEE area all institutions that run study abroad programs in Australia. Check out this directory for a complete listing of study abroad programs in Australia.

The exchange rate is not very favorable for US students to study abroad in Australia. This means the cost of goods will be much higher than you're used to. Expect to pay at least $12,000 per semester for the combined cost of rent, food, other activities and tuition. Airfare from the West Coast will also cost at least $1000.

If this is affordable, then you're in for a real treat studying abroad in Australia. I recommend you look into programs in Brisbane. Easy access to the Gold Coast to the south and the Sunshine Coast to the north. Amazing beaches and a lot of fun stuff to do when you're not 'studying.'

Good luck!

Alexander Said:

where is the better place to study abroad, australia or italy?

We Answered:

It all depends on your personal interests. If you like nature and animals and exploring, then Australia would be the best place to go. But if you like the city, restaurants and shopping, then Italy would be better for you.

You can read about them both at this website:

Australia

Hope this helps!

Monica Said:

What city/college in Australia should I study abroad in???

We Answered:

I personally would recommend either sydney university or macquarie university (also in sydney), they both have really extensive exchange programs and could really offer you a lot.
Sydney uni is right in the centre of sydney, theres heaps of night life, lots of cultural aspects and its one of the worlds top universities.
TAFE is not really a very good option for broadcasting since it specialises mainly in trades (such as hairdressing, electrical etc) Sydney university has good media and broadcasting courses.
good luck and have fun :)

What are some cheap study abroad options in Australia?

We Answered:

Hey,

There's a new International University in Bali, Indonesia offering hospitality/hotel management education for a bachelor degree. Is that what you are looking for? The curriculum is European. Check it out on www.stenden.com/bali
Since you mention cheap living costs and beaches this might be something for you, right?
Good luck with all!

Can i study abroad and gain citizenship in Australia?

We Answered:

Technically part of what you were told was correct - but the degree you do must lead directly to a qualification on the critical skills list AT THE TIME YOU GRADUATE. As the list changes several times a year its impossible to say if any specific career will be on the list when you graduate. As it stands your proposed degree does not lead to a PR visa. It is too general. If you did a PhD and then got sponsorship (which only happens in your second 3 year contract - the first 3 year position is only ever a TR visa) but we are talking more than 10 years from now - and then you would need another year after PR to qualify for citizenship. Also note that international PhD students rarely get study support.

The student/PR route is one that both governments are clamping down on as this is seen as a back door to immigration.
