Study Abroad England

Clifton Said:

How do I sign up to go study abroad in England?

We Answered:

Firstly UCAS is what you are after to apply for admission. It is a centralised programme so you apply throw them and not to the individual Universities. Moreover it limits you to a choice of 5 choices so pick well!

My University asks that you have had 13 years experience in primary and secondary education. If not you may have to do a foundation year (year 0) before you can do a degree.

Good luck

What do i need to know to study abroad in England?

We Answered:

Hello! I studied Psychology in Education in Lancaster Uni and they also had a Psychology department separately. Lancaster is well known, but I would advise you to check on the ranking boards.

Depending on the department, you'll be busy with assignments and exams, but as far as I have seen, people always make time for travelling around :)

I know that international students' fees are around £10000-ouch-but i dont know what happens in an exchange programme. Erasmus students-an exchange programme for European students in European unis-pay the fee of their home uni, *not* the UK one. It's worth asking about it.
Check out for funding available on each uni site. You could be eligible for stuff, don't miss out!

I was staying on campus, which was more expensive than sharing a house with others. you could also contact US alumni students, who can provide you with some info.

Anywhere away from London, Cambride and Oxford is affordable-ish. North is cheaper than the South. South is sunnier than the North :S Weather can be very very miserable. I would not suggest places in North East, like Newcastle.

Hope this helps :)

What college in England is the best for study abroad people?

We Answered:

Well....as we have several hundred universities here you'll need to narrow it down. What do you want to study? We don't really offer scholarships to foreign students. If you're from the EU then you pay the minimum £3,000 a year. If not, it's more like £10,000 a year. As for Oxford, you can only get in if you're extremely clever, see their website for details. We have thousands of international students here so you won't be alone. For example, in my class of 25ish I have about 10 British people, 3 Germans, 3 Polish people, a French girl, a Swiss girl, a Korean guy, a guy from Hong Kong etc etc. Look up the Russel Group which is a good indicator of the UK's best universities. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Gro… Good luck!

can i study abroad in England without being at a certain school that offers it?

We Answered:

Most 4 year colleges have a study abroad office and they offer different programs, so you may want to enroll at a different school for a semester so you can check out what their study abroad office has.

And read studying abroad for dummies, it has a plethora of information in there.

Are there any programs recommended for a junior wanting to study abroad in England?

We Answered:

A list of organizations certified to operate in the USA can be found at www.csiet.org
However, just because they are listed does not mean they are a quality program. I would encourage you to read reports from the Committee for the Safety of Foreign Exchange Students. You can cross check the organizations here: http://www.csfes.org/
A program will cost between $6,000 and $8,000 plus an average of around $200/month for personal expenses -- maybe more.
It's a great idea ... I'd suggest that you study in a place where you will learn a new language however (British English doesn't count! LOL) which would maximize the time and money you put into a year overseas.
Good luck!
