Study Abroad Europe

Nora Said:

Is it possible to study abroad in Europe full time and get my degree?

We Answered:

You can certainly apply for a course and if you have the right qualifications and motivation, can get accepted. You will have to apply for a study visa. However when applying for this study visa it is made clear that this is a temporary visa for the duration of the course.

It does not entitle you to remain in the country after the course is completed, and nor does it allow you to work. You would have to return to your home country and apply for a visa in the same way as you would now.

As for the military paying - I honestly don't know, but I would be surprised if it was the case that they would pay for a ex-member to study internationally....... but you can always ask of course!

Daryl Said:

Is being 28 years old too old to study abroad in Europe?

We Answered:

Absolutely not. It's not cliche, it's the truth when people say 'you're never too old'. If you have the desire, you can make a change. Typically, schools don't turn down to Euros. And, depending on the program, they may be delighted to have a mature student who WANTS to learn.

Remember, it's only old DOGS that you can't teach new tricks.

Claire Said:

When studying abroad, would it be better to study in Europe or in the US?

We Answered:

Hm. I think if you're looking for a completely different culture, you should go to the U.S. The best way to answer this is, what languages can you speak? I wouldn't go to Europe without being at least bilingual, and then trying to actually attend college in a different language... and since you obviously speak English very well, perhaps the US is a safer place for you. However, being from the US... I'd much rather be in Europe. Total digression there though, haha.

Marcia Said:

How to convince my mum to let me study abroad in Europe?

We Answered:

~You can get scholarships! There are some scholarships that will make it free for you! (NSLI, YES, and CBYX) Or you could go with Rotary, which is very cheap!

~All parents miss their kids, but this will be a really great experience for you. You will grow a lot, become more independent, and be more ready and qualified for college!

~There are honestly bad people everywhere. You will have a host family that will most likely look after you just like their own kids. The familes are carefully selected and your mom doesn't need to worry. The program won't put you somewhere dangerous.

~I can't really say, because I don't know you, but the exchange will help to mature you! If you are ready to take this step, then you are probably ready to go. If you put in the work to research the study abroad process then it will probably really impress you mom!

~good luck!

and try Cultures Shocked: http://www.cultures-shocked.org/Joomla/f… It's a great forum for exchangers! :)
