Study Abroad In Spain

Paula Said:

going to spain study abroad program what should i take?

We Answered:

For the summer months in Spain bring summer cloths!
It is going to be hot most of the time.
Still bring at least one pair of long trousers (or a skirt) if only to visit church. And a sweater or so for when you hit the bad weather jackpot. An umbrella or thin raincoat might come in handy too.
And bring at least 2 pairs of shoes, as you will get tired of the same shoes all the time. The second pair can be flimsy and fun, or slippers you can also use in the bathroom.

When people in Spain go out for a night of drinking they often dress very smart, so bring something nice to if you expect to do the same.

You will stay long enough to have to wash your gear, count on that and do not try to bring enough for the whole time, better bring less so you can carry your things and do laundry a little more often.
But do bring some personal things, like a couple of photos, some music and a reminder of home.

How much money depends on what is already paid for.
If housing and food is paid for, you need pocket money only.
Bring twice as much as you would for a holiday 'home'.
If you need to pay for a hostel and food, bring 100 Euro per day if you can, at least 70 Euro per day.

I'm going to study abroad in Spain and wanted to know: which city is better, Madrid or Barcelona?

We Answered:

Barcelona is beautiful city with very interesting social life, so there is a lot of opportunitis to find friends and talk with people at all, wich I mean is a very important for practising spanish. Madrid isnt bad its just not so livefull place.

Rick Said:

Which city should I choose to study abroad in Spain?

We Answered:

That's a tough one ! Personally I would opt for Salamanca because Spanish is considered to be spoken to a much a higher standard there. Secondly, in a major city such as Madrid it may be 'easier' for you to slip into bad habits and mix and speak with people whose first language is not Spanish, and therefore you may find that you learn more in Salamanca, and to a higher standard.
That said, if there is any way that you can visit both - even if just for a weekend break - then do !

Suerte !

What are some good study abroad programs in Spain?

We Answered:

You did not mention if you are high school or college age. Some programs are specific to certain ages or countries. If you are enrolled in college already, then check with your counselor or advisor about programs through the school. Check out the sites below. I have personal experience with Ayusa as a host family to three students FROM Spain.
