Summer study abroad programs to Spain for high school students? We Answered:
You should look into Explorica Summer Academy. I went on their Spain program the summer before junior year. It was three weeks, about $4000 (The price has gone up a little since then due to weak dollar). It consisted of a week of traveling around the country, then two weeks in Marbella (Costa del Sol) going to school six hours a day for language immersion at Enforex school. On the weekend between the two weeks of school we went to Gibraltar and Morocco. It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot at the school. It was small classes with native speaker teachers. There were about 25 kids on the trip with two really nice chaperones and a tour guide. We stayed at hotels that were quite nice. The $4000 included airfare, hotel, breakfast and dinner everyday, school, basically everything. I definitely suggest the program. They even have this thing called a tour diary that is online while you're gone. The chaperons uploads pictures and writes about what you did everyday and your parents can go online and check on you.I really liked that we got a lot of free time with this program. On days we had school, we met for breakfast and dinner and were responsible for getting to school on time. The rest of the day was ours. I went to the beach everyday.
The chaperons were really nice. We had a midnight curfew, were they would check in on us in our rooms, but other than that we could be wherever we wanted all the time.

Any knows a study abroad program for high school students that are safe and not expensive.?We Answered:
Very few high schools offer study abroad opportunities. If you want to go, you have to go privately. You need to be careful -- no program is 100 percent perfect, they are made up of people. However, AFS, YFU and Rotary are the top ones with the best records. That's because they are volunteer based, there is no money in it for the people who place students.
Both AFS and YFU offer some scholarship opportunities. Try. You never know. Rotary is also much cheaper -- but more competitive. Again, try.
However, your biggest problem is that you've really left it too late. There are a few "gap year" opportunities, but little with scholarships. Your best bet now would be to wait until college.

Does anybody know of any summer study abroad programs in Spain for high school students? We Answered:
I think you should try ISA (International Studies Abroad) www.studiesabroad.com. I'm not sure if you can live in a dorm...but they can try and get a dorm for you. You just need to call and talk to someone in the office. Good luck!Elaine Said:

Good study abroad Arabic programs for high school students? We Answered:
I would like to cast a vote for Youth For Understanding (YFU). YFU is one of the oldest (59yrs old), largest (in typical year, 2000 students come to USA, 500 go overseas from USA), and most respected exchange programs around. When I have asked exchange students why they chose YFU, they gave one (or both) of the following answers: someone they trusted recommended YFU and/or YFU gave them more bang for their buck. 95% of the fees collected by YFU go for direct program costs (airline tickets, finding a host family, support while in the hosting country, etc.). I am a 5-time host mom and volunteer with YFU.YFU has a summer program to Egypt. You'll live with a host family in Cairo (most likely) and study Arabic for 5hrs per day for 5 weeks.
Check out the website.
Good luck to you no matter what you choose! Feel free to email me. I think it would be absolutely fascinating to go Egypt!
