Study And Work Abroad

Elmer Said:

How does study abroad work?

We Answered:

I'm not sure how to answer this -- are you in high school or college?

A high school student usually goes through a program. Most schools don't handle that. The top three are AFS, YFU and Rotary. Most high schools will recognize at least some of your year abroad.

If you are in college, many of them have an international program. If you use that, you can transfer your credits back.

Engineer want to study & work abroad .. How & where to start ?

We Answered:

Talk to other engineers who have made the trip. They're the ones that know the requirements.

There is a strong demand for bright minds anywhere you go in the planet.

Samantha Said:

What study/work abroad opportunities are available to student affairs professionals?

We Answered:

It's funny--I'm in the same predicament. I work in study abroad in PA, and I've just been contacting some of our schools abroad to see if they have any leads. I'd recommend checking NAFSA.org; they have resume postings as well. Other than that, just contact schools, and let me know if you get leads you aren't interested in!

Tammy Said:

How do I WORK (not study) abroad in South America?

We Answered:

Working in SA is an awesome way to travel and experience South American cultures. I would highly encourage it. I just got back from 4 months of traveling Chile and Argentina. I taught English out of my home to get by, but I know that there are dozens of English Institutes in both of those countries that are always willing to hire a native English speaker. Wall Street Institute is one such school in Santiago de Chile. Many of these institutes pay you cash, but others sponsor work visas. It just depends on the school.
In my case, I used my friends in Santiago to recommend me as a teacher. A week into my stay, I had several students lined up and some office buildings that were interested in me teaching thier employees. Even my doctor set up classes with me! And the pay was great. With a contact or two and a bit of research, you can make it work!
If you aren't into teaching English, try tourist oriented restaurants or cafes. They often prefer hiring foreign help.

Kay Said:

how can i study or work abroad?

We Answered:

If you want to work in the EU you have to apply for a visa. But you can't have two visa's one for working and one for studying. Since Turkey is not a member of the EU you find it hard getting a visa to work in any of the EU countries.
