Study Chinese In Beijing

Mabel Said:

Where is a BEAUTIFUL place to study Chinese?

We Answered:

It might be hard to find Mandarin courses in small country towns...But have you considered Dalian? Not a small city but so pleasant and relaxed there. The weather is quite mild compared to other places in Liaoning. It has a permanent vacation feel, people are friendly, beautiful beaches not far...the Dalian University of Foreign Languages has Mandarin courses and has a great reputation so a lot of students and young people all over the place. You can get there on the very cheap by train for 59Y, hard seat of course, but it is a bargain...

Xiamen too is a great place to study, a bit warmer than Dalian in winter. Lots of university students, good language university as well. I would say that both Dalian and Xiamen are great university towns, lots of young people speak relatively good English, so it is perfect for language exchange...

Study Chinese in Beijing?

We Answered:

There is a language school in Beijing specifically for learning languages. I forget exactly what it is called though, but you can ask around--its something like: ???? Basically any school can teach Chinese really well. You could also earn quite a bit of money teaching English to them.

Good Luck

Will I be able to follow the U.S. 2008 elections while studying in Beijing?

We Answered:

It is most likely that CCTV 9 (Beijing only English speaking television programm will be covering some of the events). And to be honest although some sites are blocked from china although there no ban on such words, there are many numberous ways around that, web proxies etc, and I'm sure you will be able to follow the new with www.yahoo.com as well.

Where is the best place to study Chinese in Beijing?

We Answered:

Hi,

I have studied Chinese at two places in Beijing - The Diqiucun school in the Wudaokou district and the Capital Normal University.

Diqiucun (meaning Global village) has some great teachers. I had two teachers, Miss Meng (chinese name Meng Na) and Miss Wang (Wang Yan). The school offers many courses on a sort of pay as you go basis. You pay for as long as you want to stay. The classes are not that expensive and the quality is impeccable.

Alternatively you could study at a university. The prestigious ones are Beijing university and BLCU. I studied at a well-known university that was nevertheless not one of the most famous. It didnt matter, the quality of teaching was still extremely good. Studying at a university as opposed to a language school is good except it might not suit your plans as the universities usually require you pay for an entire semester ie. September to January. You could of course leave half way through, though you will be paying more.
any questions just ask

Good luck!!

Why should I study Chinese Mandarin?

We Answered:

As a matter of fact, China is more than a rapidly developing country with the biggest population. There are still many interesting things in traditional and current China. Through learning the Chinese language, you can get many interests and traditional culture in China, for example, some number has its different symbol (“4” four indicates bad luck and “6” six indicates good luck) and every color has its different representational meaning (“pink” stands for love somebody forever and so on) in China. So you can try to find some interests in your learning. Good tongue twister sentences for learning pronunciation in Chinese?

We Answered:

Actually, if you pronounce “i” in the shape of mouth as “u”, you will get “ü.”
Yes, there are many tongue twisters in Chinese language. I provide one in order to help you practice the pinyin ü and u.

??????????????????????????????
Zhèti?n ti?n xiày?, t?yùjú chu?n l? y?y? de n? xi?o l?, qù zh?o chu?n l? yùndòng y? de l? l?ol?.
??????????????????????
Chu?n l? y?y? de n? xi?o l?, méi zh?o zháo chu?n l? yùndòng y? de n? l?ol?;
???????????????????????
chu?n l? yùndòng y? de n? l?ol?, y? méi kànjian chu?n l? y?y? de n? xi?o l?.

By the way, your pronunciation should be improved by further learning and practicing Chinese pinyin, though tongue twisters are helpful.
