I would like to study in new zealand but I don't have the right informations to do it.if somebody can help me?

We Answered:

Hi there,

You will usually need to prove a certain level of English, i.e. either by IELTS or TOEFL.
http://www.ielts.org/
http://www.toefl.org/

These two are language certificates that you can take. You will have to pay a fee for them, usually around $170-$200. The results will be sent to you rather quickly, but a wait of at least eight weeks should be expected. For both, you can prepare either by using special preparation materials, or by attending classes.

I cannot tell whether you will need to do another test to be accepted. Some universities, and especially fields of study, require an entry test for their students, to prove that they bring the necessary qualifications. This is the sort of information that should be available on each college's website.

Studying is always rather expensive. In New Zealand, you should expect an average annual tuition fee of NZ$ 14,000.

Hope this helps!

Cheers
S

I want to Live/Study in New Zealand next year. Can I get some advice?

We Answered:

It isn't free to study in New Zealand and unless you are made of money, be prepared to pay international fees. Also, look at the New Zealand immigration site and see if they will allow in into the country with the intention of going to school. It's very expensive to live here. Can you afford about $200 PER WEEK just for rent?

Salvador Said:

What higher grades would I need for universities in New Zealand?

We Answered:

You'd really need to contact the individual universities for this info. Also to find out if your qualifications are even recognised here.

Charlie Said:

How many students come to NZ every year to study English?

We Answered:

Kia Ora Blincosa,

If you are asking about English as a second language (ESL) there are courses available.
If you are asking about English as a subject (literature, linguistics, etc.) there are plenty of avenues for study.

I can only answer from my own experience. I am at a NZ University,
and I'd guess that international students make up about half the number of students in my classes.
International students must pass the English requirements to be accepted for study.
There is a wide range of countries represented here, and I have good friends from Germany, India, Taiwan, Canada, China, South Africa, the US, as well as the Kiwi 'natives.'

I don't know the total number of international students in the country, but you can get more Uni info from the web link below.

Oh, and don't pay any attention to Snow R - sounds like sour grapes to me. NZ is a nice place and the people are lovely. I

Tim Said:

Which city in New Zealand is less expensive to study English?

We Answered:

Im not really sure, I only know of Auckland and Hamilton. Auckland is ridiculously exspensive, here in hamilton food is cheap, buses are like $1.20 (for students) and that allows for 2hours unlimited use.

Adrian Said:

i want to study English in new zealand what is the most cheap school i can find (( please help me )))?

We Answered:

NZers won't know this as we don't need to study English. Try contacting some people from your own country that have been to NZ or are here. Use google.co.nz to search for maybe associations regarding your country, like if you're from China enter Chinese people in New Zealand or Chinese organisations in New Zealand & get an email address from one of the websites that come up & ask them if they know.

Also try the Lonely Planet website, they have a forum where you can ask questions like this so that people who've travelled here recently can answer.

yellowpages.co.nz and do a search on English language schools, then email them all to ask their prices. It won't tell you which one is worthwhile though, you need to research that with foreign people who have lived here & used those schools. Remember if it's a cheaper school it might be a bad one where they don't pay their teachers much money as they aren't very good teachers. Then again some expensive ones might have bad teachers too, so it is difficult to judge.

Discuss It!
