What websites are most popular with foreign students studying in London?

We Answered:

I lived in London as a student a while ago and websites I visited quite often were www.gumtree.com (for rooms, jobs etc.) and www.timeout.com/london for listings of concerts, parties, events etc. Don't know exactly if that's what you're looking for though....

Where can I find young people studying in London?

We Answered:

Be careful, there are alot of strange and dangerous people out there, i would not suggest meeting some one from the internet! Why not get to know other people on the same course as you?

Could anyone give me a realistic idea of the cost of studying in London?

We Answered:

Halls of residence are around £100 per week, for fairly decent halls. You may be able to get catered ones for around this price, but be warned, the food is not all that great! Food will cost you an extra £30 a week, at the least. If you live in halls at somewhere like UCL or LSE you will usually be within walking distance of the campus, which means that transport costs will be kept down.

Finding a cheap but decent student house when you have to move out of halls may be a little more difficult living in London, and this is where you will have to move out of the city and find travel costs....probably about £3 a day on the trains....

In comparision, I studied in Birmingham. My halls were en-suite and cost £76 per week (obviously inclusive of all bills) and there were places available for £60! But I had to get a travel pass to get around, which cost £130 per term, and this allowed transport on all buses, trains in the local area and the metro system. Food cost somewhere near the same as above. There were lots of student nights (if you can handle the rubbish music and p*ssed freshers....) where a pint was £1....

Basically, it works out a little cheaper outside of London, but I think that you would get a slightly higher student loan to take in to account the fact that you are studying in one of the most expensive places in the world!
