Studying In New Zealand
Ian Said:
Can anyone give us any input on studying in New Zealand? We Answered:
Go for it! My wife and I have a similar plan on the horizon, but not to NZ. Your son should be fine, but would be finer still if mum and dad went at the same time. He might be a teenager and seem very independent, but he'd still like mum and dad close by (he'd never admit to it mind!) to provide support when he needs it.Jeanette Said:
What about studying in New Zealand? Could i afford to study there? We Answered:
Go to Canada, I hear their education is free...Eddie Said:
What Filipino stuff should I include in my care package for my sister studying in New Zealand? We Answered:
You can send her anything like her favourite magazines, DVDs but definitely no food. She will, after all, be eating better food than she would in the Philippines anyway! Any unprocessed or unlabeled food, or items made of wood or other plant material are banned the same as in Australia.Samuel Said:
Can i apply parmanent residency in new zealand after studying? We Answered:
You will need to study the Expression of Interest Guide and the Expression of interest form to determine if you will earn enough points for a permanent visa. You get additional points for NZ study if the type of course and length of study qualify and you get additional points for a job offer in hand however being awarded points for those things doesn't necessarily mean that you will reach the points threshold for a permanent visa.http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonly…

Make sure you check whether the course you are studying leads to qualifications in an occupation that is on the lists of required occupations.

Heritage Weekend
"The annual Wanganui Heritage Weekend is held mid March each year. This event 'celebrates our people and our heritage'. Activities, both free and affordable include rides on trailers behind Steam Traction Engine, cruises on the only working paddlesteamer in New Zealand - the PS Waimarie, Street Markets, Soap Box Derby, church services in some of the oldest church's in the country. picnics, static displays, food presented as it once was by our forebears.
Exhibitions, Genealogy research, interactive historic walks exploring Wanganui's historic buildings. Music Hall, visiting historic homes, displays, Jazz picnics, activities in our Whanganui Regional Museum. A great opportunity to dress up in cloths from a by-gone era and experience life as it used to be"

Rachel Said:
What should I get my friend who is studying abroad in New Zealand for five months? We Answered:
Instead of giving her something before she leaves; why dont you send her Care - packages while shes over there ? I know i've traveled abroad for months at a time as a student ambassador ( at the age of 14) ; and you begin to miss American things. Sending care packages with the latest US magazines ; some familiar snack foods , and a simple note saying " hey ! i miss you ! " would deffinatly cheer her up; and give her something to look forward to; as opposed to getting her a one-time gift.Just a suggestion !
